AggieFan starting to realize the Johnny Futbol era is over and they are back to being what they always were in the Big 12: a mediocrity. And now their rivalry with Texas is gone.

A 100 year decision. A 100 years in the making:

Poor Aggie,

Their greatest player ever always wanted to be a Longhorn.

Point me to the one where Vanderbilt ran up the score on Alabama, please.

What? That its not a huge rivalry? I stopped caring about the importance of rivalry games when roughly Jayhawk fans showed up at Arrowhead the last time Mizzou and Kansas played.

Rivalries take time. Of all the schools we are playing now, it seems like South Carolina has the most juice so far. But it takes time to develop real animosity.

But I don't see it as any sort of a problem that we are missing a longtime rival at this moment. Our old one barely has a football program anymore, and we are writing new history now. The Big 12 was a 20th century thing for us, and in ten or twenty years nobody on our side of the state line will think about it anymore.

On the flip side I will give A&M and their fans tons of credit.

I've never seen a fanbase be so enthralled and committed to a program that has achieved so little.

Nowhere else in America does this exist.

Don't be so sure. Empty seats may be common now, if their boards are to be believed. While losses do make some grouchy, many posts describe all the t-shirt fans they picked up with Futbol and how they won't even take free tix now.

Don't fault us that the Big 12 isn't as top heavy as the SEC.

TribalElder 11-28-2014 11:23 AM

Arkansas has the potential to be a great rivalry

Especially the way the schedule shakes out. If they are always the last game of the year some hate will surely develop by dreams getting crushed. It could begin today but I hope it's not Mizzou's dreams getting put out.

A conference opponent with the east title on the line, couldn't ask for a better setup for this one. Arkansas has played lights out the last two weeks also.

I'll admit, I loved watching Manziel play. I literally watched 90% of A&M games over the 2 years he played there.

Since then I couldn't even tell you what day or time A&M plays football. Obviously I'm not the only one who this is true for. The ratings for Aggie Football have plummeted.

The SEC Network should send Manziel a check. He came at just the right time. People got used to him and how great he was and thought this would continue from here on out.

The ratings for SEC Network games are so bad they won't even release them to the public.

1,152 between KSU and Mizzou. And they are 98-121-14 vs Kansas. Just terrible programs.

Mizzou is 100 games over .500. Kansas is well below .500.
