Lucasfilm made a huge mistake in hiring KK, which is beyond obvious at this point. They should have hired someone younger, someone more in touch with the Star Wars community and fan base because she missed the mark, big time.

Favreau and Filoni have done a remarkable job with The Mandalorian and fortunately, they're producing at least one more series together in Rangers of the Republic. Andor, the Rogue One prequel is obviously in good hands with Tony Gilroy, while the other series appear to be in good hands as well (Deborah Chow and Leslye Headland).

Instead of rushing to announce Episode VII and Rogue One, she should have taken some time to put together a really solid plan, which they seem to have in place now, but at the expense of 7-9.

So KK is still around right? I don’t remember seeing news of her exit.

I’m glad they have it figured out. But the expense on 7-9 is a real travesty. They could have taken that so many directions. Positive directions. But NOPE.

I’ve stood up for TLJ. I got what RJ was trying to get across. But from
The perspective of THIS being possible, it looks bad. Maybe I can say it hasn’t aged well. IDK.

Yeah, she's still in charge. And sure, I get what RJ was trying to do but JJ killed the Golden Goose, although KK should never have allowed that script to go into production.

Michael Arndt, who wrote Toy Story 3 and other acclaimed films, had it right because his script featured Luke, Leia and Han, only to have "Kira" appear in Act 3.

That's what we wanted to see. Not crappy imitations in the forms of Poe, Finn and Rey.

Alas, what could have been...

It's Ludwig Göransson. He's scored both seasons of The Mandalorian and he scored Marvel's Black Panther, in which he created the Wakanda Theme and the Black Panther theme.

I recently did a "Spotlight" interview and one of the questions was "Who are your favorite composers?".

While I listed John Williams and others, I also mentioned that Ludwig is my favorite composer working today because he's breaking new ground with a Synthesizer/Sound Design/Orchestral Hybrid type of scoring that IMO, is absolutely amazing and astonishingly refreshing.

The dude is literally a genius composer.

38 and I had happy tears as well. Google news spoiled it a bit for me but this was fantastic. Better than the sequels and following trilogy. We saw a glimpse of Luke being a badass in rotj but then teddy bears. I'm glad I got to see that again.

What an amazing episode.

One critique I have that I can’t even take credit for. At the ending when mando asks Luke if he’s a Jedi, my oldest son was like he should have said, I am a Jedi, like my father before me.

If the story is good, I’m focused on the actors and story, then the next watch I’ll pick up more subtle aspects and VFX, then by the fourth or fifth pass, I’ll listen to the music to see how it fits with all of the other aspects.

The old saying is that “The best score is the score that goes unnoticed”, which I find holds true most of the time.

Put the Mandalorian crew on the job.

Filoni created something in the rebels series called the world between worlds that is canon. It allows for time travel basically. So it could be done, but you're talking about retconning an entire film trilogy. I don't think Disney would agree to it.

duncan_idaho 12-19-2020 08:46 AM

So, fellow Star Wars EU "Legends" nerds...

What "legends" EU characters do we hope get introduced?

Let's list some notable ones:

Mara Jade - As a Zahn creation, she starts from a strong place. Her later story arcs and partnership with Luke obviously would need to be changed, but the core character is interesting and, if cast well, could be really dynamic and fun (you just have to take her end story in a different direction).

Gilad Pellaeon - Sticking with the Thrawn theme, he was someone that really made the Empire more interesting and deep for me in the EU. Also noticeably BA in his own right after years of work and training with Thrawn.

Quinlan Vos - One of the cooler End-of-the-Republic Jedi, he's technically in-canon already. He's complex and nuanced and would fit well in something set between the rise of the Empire and the original trilogy, and his psychometry ability could offer the opportunity for some really interesting narratives.

Corran Horn - You could have a lot of fun with a Force-using fighter pilot and fit him into a LOT of stories.

I've probably watched it a dozen times. May watch it a dozen more before I cancel Disney until it comes back on again.

I did the same thing with the Vader Rogue One scene.

Very powerful stuff. All the little guys in the galaxy fighting, and all that it takes is one Jedi/Sith Lord to wipe them out.

Mando is a badass, and it took everything he had to kill one Dark Trooper. Luke dispatched them with minimal effort.

It is literally a lightsaber unless they’re changing the backstory.

There was a Mandalorian Jedi (Viszla) who made jt and then passed it down through his family. He left the Jedi at some point to rule Mandalore.
