Actually it's being a chiefs fan. I can't remember any QB that was overwhelming liked since I started following in 87...

Grandpa always said the backup QB in KC is the most popular guy.

Wait, first you tell us to be selective about our favored QB prospects because you can't just draft any QB just to say you drafted one. Now you're telling us to like the QB prospect we might one day draft no matter what because he's a QB and that's all that matters.

Which is it? You can't have both.

I watched Len Dawson play at the end of his career and a lot of people wanted Mike Livingston to start.

Before my time. 87/88 is when I really started my bandwagon fandom.

That isn't what I said. I said the Drafturbators won't like any QB that the Chiefs pick unless it is their darling - losers like Geno and Mark Sanchez. If the Chiefs take a QB that the Draturbaters didn't pick he will be hated, even if he is the right pick.

My point is that I don't recall KC loving a QB since Dawson, and they turned on him real fast when he faded because of age.

Drafturbators hate a lot of terrible QBs. Johnny Football. Brandon Weedon. Josh Freeman.

The only difference is people like you call every QB you see a shitty one unless it's Andrew Luck. So when the 70% of them don't make it, you crow about how selective and precise you are when it comes to this game.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are still sucking shit through the Alex Smith straw and may continue doing the same thing and looking for a veteran to trade for instead of drafting their own guy.

I'm ashamed that I read any portion of this thread. CP is trash these days.

I thought Trent Green was generally well-liked...and so was Joe Montana. Dave Krieg/Deberg had their fans. I liked Gannon and I'm not alone there. Just because some of us haven't been content with Matt Cassel and Alex Smith these past 7-8 seasons (blech), doesn't mean we are incapable of liking someone at QB.

This.

They either hate every QB unless he's a once in a generation type talent OR they offer up no opinion. That way they're never wrong.

Trent Green was the ultimate example of this fan base being fair. We traded for a veteran and he had a terrible 2001 season. We treated him terribly. He dramatically improved in 2002. We liked him better (that was the birth of the Keep ****ing Doubting Trent Green thread). And 2003-2005 were breezes for him with this fanbase, even as we had some disappointing losses. He would make mistakes, but we'd keep backing him because we had seen him produce.

And don't say "OLINE" either, splatbass. If Alex Smith had Trent Green's OLine, he'd be just as ****ing pedestrian as he is now. Maybe he'd have a few more TDs, but I really doubt he'd crack 20 or get 4000 yards. Conservative play at all costs would continue to be the name of his game, and no amount of protection he had would ever change that.

And people like you call any QB that isn't a 1st round pick a shitty one. You will never accept a QB that comes from another team, unless it is Joe Montana.

And you don't think Andy Reid has anything to do with the conservative play? Haven't you noticed lately that Reid will open it up once in a while and Alex Smith will play well. He has made some good long throws lately. Then we get ahead and ANDY goes into a shell. But you blame Alex.
