Not impressed.

Jimmy carved up the prime Jags D with a team that went 1-10 before he got his first start.

Yeah, that's one of the problems with Ford. If he's a centerpiece player for your defense, it makes it predictable and exploitable.

And it's not just TEs who can destroy him in run blocks. He's very susceptible to WAM blocks by WR because 1) he's bitchmade; 2) he seems to have pretty poor awareness/tunnel vision

The Chiefs generally are going to throw a LOT on 1st and 2nd down. If Ford is on the field, they'll check into a decent number of run plays and send the play right at him.

I'm sure he'll be motivated and such. But he's not a concern until he shows me he should be.

Does Clay have the .gif of Ford literally running away from a ball carrier? I'll remember that shit forever.

It's been posted in the last day or two. It has to be buried by now though.

Alex Smith went 9-0 in 2013 after taking over for a 2-14 team the year before, just saying. We kicked his ass out of town to get Mahomes, the QB that could get us over the hump.

It’s almost like they didn’t have any tape on him.

You will be impressed in about 10 days.

This may be one of the big sticking points for the way 49ers fans see that DL and the way Chiefs fans see that DL.

We know that guy well. He is not well-regarded here, because he was a brokedick who was easily exploited by really good offenses and was a key part of the significant run D issues KC had the past few years.

Ford was a complete nonfactor against the Patriots and Tom Brady (seriously, he played 84 percent of the snaps and is gooseeggs across the board. No pressures. No sacks. No QB hits. No tackles. He did sure as **** get blocked out of a bunch of run plays by Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan, though). Literally the only time he showed up on the screen was when he was whistled for the offsides that negated Brady's INT, and when he was seen on the sideline dimly asking someone if he actually was.

He was low impact against Anthony Costanzo and the Colts last year, too; he had a strip sack late in the game, when the Colts trailed 24-0, and that was about it.

Chiefs fans don't view him as a "must" double-team. The Chiefs don't even routinely double Joey Bosa (or Mack, or Miller, or Chubb, etc.), though they do chip him with a RB/TE at times.

They may double Bosa or chip him and double Armstead/Buckner, then leave everyone else singled up, including Ford. But I don't expect KC to keep a LOT of extra blockers in on regular downs, unless they're trying to run a "shot" play.

Fair enough...in my view, it's Ford's mere presence that is the difference maker. Most teams have had to chip him at least to avoid having him pressure the QB, and when they do that, it leaves one of the other guys one on one. If you can consistently block Ford one on one, I agree it will tend to negate his impact.

And carved them up? ROFL

242 yards 2 TDs and 1 INT. That’s Alex Smith carved them up.
