So the SEC has 11 bowl eligible teams already. Assuming Tennessee beats Vanderbilt, that's 12. If Kentucky upsets Louisville, that would make 13.
The SEC has 10 bowl tie-ins. Then, there's a spot or two in the playoffs, but that could still leave us needing another slot. You'd think that 10 bowl slots plus a couple more in the playoff would be enough, but hopefully there is some sort of contingency plan in place just in case. Does anyone know how that works? Do we just take a shitty one away from a conference like the Big 12 that's only going to get a handful of teams bowl eligible? That's going to be an awkward conversation. "Hey guys...umm...Kentucky needs your bowl game, so we're going to go ahead and take it. You can have it back next year if we don't need it again, though." |

Well the Big12 had 9 of its 10 teams make a bowl a few years ago.
