Embiid didn't fake an injury. Whitey Spradling broke his spine with a crossover for the ages.

Is that little guy still on your team?

So the SEC has 11 bowl eligible teams already. Assuming Tennessee beats Vanderbilt, that's 12. If Kentucky upsets Louisville, that would make 13.

The SEC has 10 bowl tie-ins. Then, there's a spot or two in the playoffs, but that could still leave us needing another slot. You'd think that 10 bowl slots plus a couple more in the playoff would be enough, but hopefully there is some sort of contingency plan in place just in case.

Does anyone know how that works? Do we just take a shitty one away from a conference like the Big 12 that's only going to get a handful of teams bowl eligible? That's going to be an awkward conversation. "Hey guys...umm...Kentucky needs your bowl game, so we're going to go ahead and take it. You can have it back next year if we don't need it again, though."

The Big 12 has 6 teams eligible right now, so if they can't fill their bowl games then teams from other conferences are invited.

Big 12 2014 bowl selection order -

College Football Playoff
Valero Alamo Bowl
Russell Athletic Bowl
AdvoCare Texas Bowl
AutoZone Liberty Bowl
Cactus Bowl
Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl (backup)

7 tie ins for 10 teams?

Wow, talk about respect.

RustShack 11-24-2014 11:32 AM

Well the Big12 had 9 of its 10 teams make a bowl a few years ago.

Your math skills are befitting of a fan of a ten team conference that calls itself the Big 12.

A feat that will never be repeated in college football history. What an amazing year.

Yeah, amazing is what I would call it too. The 9 eligible teams were mostly pretty piss poor, as evidenced with the top two getting shellacked. Oregon beat K-State by 18 and A&M dickstomped Oklahoma by 28. Thos nine teams were an impressive 4-5 overall in those games. One for the record books!!

I'd drop this in the ku thread, but it'd go unappreciated

SEC -

College Football Playoff
Sugar Bowl or Orange Bowl
Capital One Bowl

The conference will assign teams to the respective bowls in this pool:
Outback Bowl
Music City Bowl
Gator Bowl
Liberty Bowl
Texas Bowl
Belk Bowl

Next Tier:
Birmingham Bowl
AdvoCare V100 Bowl

That's assuming that the Big 12 makes the playoff, if not then it would be 6. If Army is bowl eligible, then the Big 12 gets bumped from the Armed Forces Bowl, so that would be 5. Army has only been bowl eligible 1 time in the last 10 years though.

Well having an automatic conference win helps
