28m aav is a ton and if Tyreek is getting signed long term, his number will be equal or higher than that due to age.

Is it time to have that conversation?

I’ve been adamantly opposed to trading him.

But he’ll be 30 when an extension starts. He may well have gone past what I’M willing to pay him.

Nah.

Too fast, powerful and inexpensive.

Need to pay for Landry instead. He was better back when Shenault was in junior high.

Don’t do this to me, DJ. Not right now.

Shenault and Kyzir. The circle jerk is going to happen.

What’s your limit?

I'm actually enjoying this. Reminds me of a game day thread. Every opponent first down is the end of the chiefs season.

And we have the draft and some money to get a couple decent players left.

Why are we scared again?

Scared? No. Realistic? Yeah. We had all that last year and lost. Now basically every contending team in the conference has drastically improved already and we haven't.

Would you take a first and second round pick (roughly middle of each round) or pay Tyreek the same contract as Adams?

Bills and Bengals are the best teams in the conference along with us. They haven’t really done much.

Chargers and Broncos didn’t even make the playoffs. Raiders only did bc there are now 7 seeds.

We were way ahead of our division last year. Other teams got better but they are not better than us right now.

It’s still Bills, Chiefs and Bengals at the top

He just turned 28 a couple weeks ago, so the extension would start at age 29…Im just not sure extending him for 5 years would be wise and I bet that’s why the extension is taking longer than we anticipated.

There will definitely be major risk in an extension and I’m sure Tyreek wants more years and security because of that.

I’m glad I’m not the one making that call.

Tag/trade may be a realistic alternative at this point.

I’d hate it, but it takes two to get a deal done. And even if we can get one done, this may well do a lot to punch Jones ticket out of town next year

This is perhaps the biggest blunder. It does take two to tango, but if he was gonna work on that extension for Reek then he should have been aggressive getting it done before FA started.

Hill would have been dumb to sign a new deal before Godwin or Adams. Especially since he had to give up value last time.

You’re being unrealistic.

This will be Tyreeks last big payday. I expect him to try to get every dollar he can.

And he deserves it.

You may have to tag him a couple times if he is gonna ask crazy numbers.

BossChief 03-17-2022 07:36 PM

I’m still bummed we didn’t sign AR. That deal was a huge bargain and missed opportunity.

That alone would have given me reason for excitement about the rest of these moves.

I hope I’m wrong.
