It's like Scream in that it's brilliance is in recontextualizing known tropes in a manner that's fresh and relevant to the present.

It's not a new story, it's an exhilarating new way to tell a familiar story.

Original is a good word to describe it. I thought it was well made. I'd recommend it.

Finally watched Rogue One.

Meh.

I'm not a Star Wars guy though i've seen them all. Can't say i was impressed. Then again, i find Star Wars fairly entertaining but they've never blown me away.

I'd say it was good for a Star Wars movie i suppose.

Since we have a lot of Arnie talk, he has a new movie coming out...

I watched Small Crimes on Netflix the other night. It has Jamie from GoT in it. Started out pretty good, was pretty meh from there on out. The ending was a little weird, wasn't expecting that.

Alien Covenant is probably the worst and dumbest movie I've seen the last few years. Probably just below Fate of the Furious.

Yeah the actors in Covenant were flat out idiots . The best part was when Fassbender was playing the flute lol, such a stupid film & a big let down all around.

Can't find anything here about "The Hitman's Bodyguard" but honestly it was one of the more entertaining films I've seen this year. I've always liked Ryan Reynolds (no homo) and who the **** DOESN'T like Sam Jackson. Their interaction was funny, the stunts were great, it had a nice combination of violence and humor, sort of a cross between "Lethal Weapon" and "Kingsman". Plus Salma Hayek swears like a truck driver in her scenes.

I like Sam Jackson, just tired of him.

saw Mother! today. Still trying to wrap my mind around it . Its from the director of Black Swan & Requiem for a Dream. Overall, I dug it BUT I can completely understand how a LOT of folks are gonna hate it. Like, really hate it lol.

In what manner is it divisive? Structure, narrative, philosophy, story, acting?

Oh wow see I don't want to spoil it for you or anyone but Darren Aronofsky really bites off more than he can chew here (imo) . The 3rd act is flat out INSANE. The acting is all around top notch. It starts out as a slow burn but hurries into a flat out cluster **** of a film. Not saying thats totally bad but Aronofsky really went out of his way to divide his audience. Personally, I wouldn't even recommend this film to the casual movie goer .
