I had a friend that used to be the asst. Pro at the La Purisima golf course in Lompoc (Ca.), where they hold the PGA qualifying tournament.
Gave me some free lessons. I think he came away thinking I was a hopeless cause. |

I check in every so often and post what's on my mind. I just moved back to MO a few months ago, and found this site while I was already thirty for chief talk after several years away from Missouri. Since we moved for the Wife's job, I've had a throw away job while I get my stuff together for a real job. I suspect my time here will drop significantly when that happens. |

Yep. Thanks. I guess it was a mild kidney-infection. I feel almost 100 percent. Thanks. please take a look at my reply to you on the preceeding page. I've been wondering about that for a while. |

yes, I was actually at a department where I was crossed trained and duel certified, so I was on the Police side, but went through the fire acadamy and carried a fire suit in the trunk (while I was in a car, I went to Motors soon after the acadamys) Where do you work, my Red Brother...... |

No, I was down in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, now living in the St. Louis Area. I am glad you answered with ambiguity, I didn't mean to expose your exact location, but if you were on the East side of the State (MO), there could be some networking thoughts to pursue, that's all. I will ask if you know of a program similiar to the POST program for the Police, I didn't know about it for a while, and just curious if there is a similiar program for firemen. It was like testing out of the acadamy because of the past acadamy and work experience in another state. |

Anytime, I'm glad to hear that. |

It stands for Police Officer Standardized Testing, but it's like testing out of an Acadamy because of an acadamy and work experience in another state. I didn't know about it and was only appling for jobs that would send someone to the acadamy, took the test and got certified in Dec. and now can be hired anywhere because I have an active MO certification. I don't know, maybe there is a similiar program for firefighters?? |

I only needed to be a first responder, so no to the EMT. I don't think it was a national certificate, but I don't know how that works. I took a regular fire acadamy and also an ARFF acadamy, then the anual testing/recertification (along with computerized tests throughout the year along with law enforcement tests) |
Wow. I think Milkman went to bed. HA! I beat him! Tonight I win!!!

it all depends on the dept... where i work they put us through atleast 3 months training depending on how much you have when hired |

I figured it to be more complicated, I haven't seen any firefighting opportunities without the EMT part. Not opposed, but probably better suited for Law Enforcement. I did like being able to say I was a fireman while out and about, public perception being what it is and all. |
I did overlook your posts. Fuggin A.D.D. and Alcohol and Well nevermind.
