I think everyone would agree that Jones is our best player on D. This does not mean Veach has zero options and must give Jones everything he wants. |

Lol, when did Mina say that KC had ZERO options, because I definitely missed that bit. What I heard was that CJ has more leverage than what a typical DL would have in a similar situation. Pretty significant difference between "zero" and "large," wouldn't you say? |

His leverage is: "You really gonna try to win without me this year? Good luck with finding the players and money to do that." That leverage starts to drop if he actually holds out into the regular season. And his leverage for next season is SIGNIFICANTLY reduced along the way. If the issue is his guaranteed money, he's got to weigh the gap between what he's guaranteed in a new deal and what he wants, and how much money he's costing himself right now. He's at like $2M right now. Every game he misses adds 1.1M to that total. And every 1.1M that's subtracted from his 2023 salary increases the likelihood he's franchise tagged in 2024. If the best the Chiefs will do is $60M guaranteed in 2023 over 4 years, and he wants $80 over 4, what type of guarantee does he think he's going to get if he holds out this year, enough to get franchise tagged in 24? at 2 games, he costs himself about $3.3M off his base salary (plus 1.8M in fines) this year and the Chiefs can tag him for $30M. Total dollars in 23 and 24: $45M And it just gets worse from there. |
That's what I don't get. Am I missing something here cause the money......it just doesn't make sense to do it the way he says he's going to. At that point......you're literally giving the Chiefs more leverage.

Not gonna lie…Jones has tarnished his rep with me and a lot of other fans.
I’m not a fan at all of players holding the fans and their teammates hostage while under contract. I walked away from baseball when the league shut down for the strike wayyy back and never came back. Jones needs to show up before game 1, or Veach should play hardball with him. |

If you negotiated in bad faith here, I'm not saying they did, but it does seem weird, then yeah the Chiefs should do that. |

They’d probably waive his fines thus far if they had the ability to do so. |
If Jones side is being contentious.....why wouldn't the Chiefs be?

I personally don't care what he does and don't begrudge someone using every trick they have available to improve their pay day. I do begrudge blatant idiocy. If he actually does have any sort of hold out, his agents are ****ing up and not doing their job. I will have major beef with them (and slightly with Jones, for trusting this to morons who don't know what they're doing. How did that work out for his buddies Orlando Brown Jr. and Leveon Bell?) |

There's gotta be something we're missing here. What's their thinking on this whole ordeal?
