I wasn't a big fan of TFA, but I enjoyed the few scenes that almost got the waterworks going. TLJ expanded upon that and I'll admit it; big puss tears from me at quite a few moments. I grew up with these people. I was THERE in 1977 AND 1979/80. That doesn't mean that the movie is automatically going to affect me. But in this case, it sure as hell did. I don't care about the dumb shit like 'Witch Leia' and the fur penguins because that kind of shit wasn't overplayed.
All I ever ask of SW is, "take me home". And it did. |

After notching the No. 2 domestic debut of all time last week, The Last Jedi is now looking at a domestic total of about $397.3 million through Christmas Day. Of that figure, $68.5 million comes from this weekend’s Friday-Sunday frame, which represents a steep (but bearable) drop-off of 69 percent from last week. |
It's still trending far ahead of Rogue One, which made 286 million domestic in the first 10 days vs 365 million for TLJ.
It'll be fine. |

$540 million vs. $365 million. Face it, it's going to be lucky to meet Rogue One's numbers. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/showdow...oguevforce.htm This does not bode well for RJ's trilogy. |

C'mon, man. Rogue One made a billion dollars over the entirety of it's release. This film has already made 750 million. I don't think this film will fail at the box office in any conceivable way. It should do 1.5 billion or thereabouts. |

Come January, this movie is dead in the water. All the kids are back to school and parents back to work. |

But it's still trending AHEAD of Rogue One. I think it will be fine just based on that. |

Good to see people are realizing this movie was absolute shite compared to Rogue One and TFA

A 69% drop is enormous. It'll continue to drop at least 50% each weekend for the next month, which will certainly be under expectations. The backlash isn't helping, either. Once word of mouth travels further when kids are back in school, it might really fall off a cliff. |

I saw it twice because I purchased tickets months in advance. We had plans with 3 other adults and 3 kids to see it again the week after Christmas but after one viewing by those other families, it was cancelled. Contrast that to seeing Rogue One four times in the theater and even TFA three times for us. I’m not seeing it again until it comes to digital. My money is going to Jumanji. |
So you're telling me the film doesn't have another $300 million in it?
