So under these circumstances I think you have to at the very least consider it.

If Chris misses 7 games he'll never see the big deal he's wanting, no less what we're offering right now.

His cash paid this year is $20 million, so each week he misses adds just over $1 million of cap space back in our pockets. Missing 7 weeks also lowers his salary this year and makes his franchise cap hit go from an impossible $33 million to a very manageable $24.5 million.

And if Chris wants to play that game then place the tag on him and tell him to shut the **** up and play out next year as well or continue to lose money.

I agree. It's bs that he can just not play under his contract. It's a lot of money and he agreed to it. Jones is acting like a self-entitled punk.

I saw a Facebook post (not worth much) that Chris Jones is in KC. I have to think it's a matter of time until he reports.

That and his agent was spotted at KC Joe’s getting barbecue. If true, I suspect that something is in the works.

Somebody should probably let them know how much money they're costing Chris, because it's beginning to look like they don't have a clue.

So it looks like Jones has about $1.8-$2M in fines atm. If he doesn't report by tomorrow Veach can throw him on the roster exemption list and start to withhold game checks, even AFTER he decides to report!

I think this is important. This would allow Veach to say that Jones needs several weeks of practice before he can play, thus he won't be paid until Veach/Reid say he can.

Now of course we want to win SO its a double edge sword here BUT Veach could easily have a plan in place IF Jones doesn't report by tomorrow that they will keep him on the list for say 4 weeks or 5 weeks no matter what so that come 2024 offseason he is comfortable with the now $28ish in franchise tag cost($1.2M x 4 = $4.8M - $33M). OR Veach could say 3 games and plan for $30M in a franchise tag cap for 2024. You get it.

Just saying if Jones doesn't report by tomorrow Veach instantly gains full contract over Jones.

Or possibly a shot at his agent? No way to know at this point, but if is his agent truly is in town today, that may be a sign that Chris Jones said, “enough is enough let’s get this done.” I think most here would agree that it doesn’t matter as long as the deal is done and it makes sense for both parties.

After all of this I just think at that last minute Jones will cave. He has zero leverage.

I think he signs today or tomorrow for $28M which I still think is about $4M to much.

This is exactly it. The twitter shit caused a lot of panic and content generation, but when you look at the math, there is no way other than sheer butt****ing moron-ity than he and his agents are actually considering a holdout as a tactic.

If I had to go with you or with her it would definitely be HER.

Mina is rarely wrong.

Jones definitely has some leverage.

It has been a "who blinks first" kinda thing, but it seems the Chiefs have the upper hand at the moment.

Exactly! Nothing more needs to be said. Lock the thread.
