Didn't see any of the game. Let's see, we beat them down there 99-48, but up here at home it was 91-87. Sounds about right. What's wrong with Harris? (Or, what's right with Harris?)

Kansas played without Dajuan Harris Jr., who hurt his ankle in practice. The Jayhawks could have used his experience, especially when their guards got into foul trouble. He's played in 159 games and had started the last 98 of them.

Ah, I see.

Darryn Peterson, please save us, and our fandom. Thank you.

Amen.

I wonder if we'll start to see multi- year contacts for college players and if that would help with consistency.

Who are these "people"? Nearest I can tell in here nobody has even mentioned seeding in the tourney. Although I haven't been following the thread during games much.

I'm saying this "struggling" team is likely a 2 or 3 seed come March. And I'm referring more to the whining that I see on KU forums. Incredible that fans could think they're entitled to a title favorite every single year of their existence.

Who’s saying that? There have been plenty of great KU teams that didn’t win a Natty, plenty of fun seasons that didn’t end as a 1 seed.

Yeah, make up some insane argument and suddenly others look dumb.

Didn't Dickinson get a 2 year deal?

That's my understanding, 2/4M.

Like I said, I'm referring mostly to KU forums, like Phog.net. Do you read that board?

Let's not beat around the bush, many aren't watching as closely because the team isn't as good as it used to be under Self in this era. It's really as simple as that. If they were playing great and up to their talent level, the NIL/transfer portal stuff wouldn't matter. But they're not. Self himself also appears to be mailing it in (there's literally no justification for an NBA player in Flory getting benched for someone as limited as KJ and on some level he must know that).

That's just normal, it's not like we all don't detach ourselves somewhat from our struggling teams. It's abundantly clear how the season is ending for this group despite having a significant amount of talent, so I'm not as emotionally invested myself. I do believe there are different roster iterations among this group of players that could work to contend, but I have no expectation that we'll see those at this point.

As for Self, I have wondered if he refuses to get really angry due to the heart issue a couple of years ago. He just doesn't show that extreme fire he used to have once in awhile.

KJ with clutch free throws. Earns him more minutes baby

Lzen 01-30-2025 09:29 AM

I know KJ gets a lot of heat around here and most of it is usually justified. However, KJ was not the reason that KU struggled in this game. Actually, I thought KJ played well for what are his abilities. Flory should definitely start and get the bulk of the minutes. But I do think KJ has value in limited minutes.

I think people assume that UCF is terrible because KU blew them out last time, but they're not. That game was very unusual and I'm frankly not sure how KU pounded them as badly as they did. But UCF has been playing well and almost beat Houston recently.

KJ was definitely not a "problem" on Tuesday.

It's Bill's obsession with him that's the problem. I listened to postgame driving back and in his interview with Gurley, he talked about KJ like he's a Wooden Award candidate. He'll be starting on Saturday, you can book it.
