And somewhere Bidwell is probably in the building watching Gannon and the Eagles defensive schemes get vivisected for an entire half and thought to himself "that's the ****ing coach that'll solve all my problems.

it's a shallow cross, turned into an in-n-out, turned into an out-n-up.
so a shallow in-out-up? LMAO imagine tyreek running that shit |

It was just a masterpiece, man. Andy Reid vivisected those poor ****ers. Disemboweled them while they were alive then held their still beating hearts in front of their faces before the world went dark. I can recall maybe 2 or 3 games where the Chiefs just flat destroyed the other teams coaching staff like this. A 49ers game some years back (the game Moaki made that great catch at the back of the end zone), the Patriots demolition where Clay wrote Brady's obituary and then this one. And this is the greatest of them all. They couldn't tell which was was up, man. The further away we get from this, the more impressive it is. |
patrick throwing to the least open guy there LMAO

And it's absolutely right. Toney and Skyy are essentially running routes as part of their motion; plays 80% done before the ball is hiked. The Whip/Stab concept all happens before the play even starts. Andy - those poor bastards have families, man. How you gonna do 'em like that? |

Seriously, watch Andy calling plays on those drives; notice he has an extra play-call card, and that he refers to it I think on either the seecond drive or the last one. He planned all this shit out LAST WEEK. |

the development of this team is really starting to remind me of the SF dynasty at this point they were GOOD in 81, but in 84 when they got that second title, they ascended to another plane of greatness and it lasted for another five seasons and now with all the cost-controlled youth, we get a chance to really round out the rest of the roster, which was what made those late-decade SF teams so deadly - they could just beat you any damn way they wanted with the way veach set this up, it's almost going to be like playing in the pre-salary cap era |

And the players weren't going to lose it for him either. |
I like to think that when the game was over Andy went over to Jonathan Gannon, congratulated him on a strong effort and told him "Say hello to your wife and my kids..." before giving him a little pat on the head and walking away.

Andy started with a scheme that just needed a QB that could attack vertically and he got Pat Mahomes. Just proceeded to murder people. But last year even with Tyreek teams took away the verticals that Reid and Mahomes were addicted to. We fought to play left-handed but it was a messy process. By the time we had defeated the deep shells Cincinnati's DC just went into the toolbox and pulled out everything we didn't like and threw it at us perfectly for a half and stole a game we should have had. Now Mahomes and Reid are scarier. It's all efficiency and taking what's there. With no #1 WR we again lit people up. The SB was Andy's masterpiece. After winning that game in that manner it feels like we defeated the final boss. It's our NFL to rule now. |
Quote:
Might be Toney or Skyy but whoever it is, teams are gonna go back to deep shells when that guy comes here. Reid and Mahomes have a 2007 Patriots season in them. |

Andy saw that man and knew he ran a 4.87 on a slippery field. Him trying to figure out where the hell the ball was had to be hard enough. By the time he could figure it out he saw Pacheco’s 4.37 speed hitting the hole. You always fear your “burn the tape” game is the one that matters most. Geez. “Hey dad! You made the Super Bowl?!?! Can we watch that?” Yeah |

Let's not forget the Eagles as a franchise would STILL probably be in the ****ing shitter had they not hired Andy years ago.
He gave that shithole franchise sustained respectability, which is something they didn't have since Dick Vermeil. They seem to love their GM Howie Roseman. And I'm sure they love having a Super Bowl ring. Well, you can thank Andy for both Roseman AND Pederson, Philly. Can't help but noticed you already managed to piss one of those assets away. Man, even in our shit years, I just don't remember people shitting and hating Marty they way Eagles fans hate Andy Reid. We criticized Marty, yeah, but we also recognize that we didn't exactly have anything before he got here, either. I absolutely love that the Eagles are 0-4 against Andy since getting rid of him. It's a perfect fate for their fans to suffer through. |
I knew Andy was a great coach when he tore the Chiefs up on Monday Night with McNabb, he absolutely beat the piss out of the Chiefs that night and then had the comeback at Arrowhead a few years later.

Goddamn it feels good to be a Chief fan. |
Andy really broke tendency in the SB. 26 rushes out of 53 offensive plays. For those keeping score, that's 49% rushing vs. passing. Or more than 16% more than his season average.
The efficiency of the running game in the second half forced PHI defense to abandon their zone defense and play more man, which allowed Andy to exploit that rock and roll safety coverage, ultimately leading to the 2nd and third TDs in the second half, giving KC the lead and finally the win. That's elite coaching. |

Was disappointed when he was named head coach; I didn't want another fired coach with a failed system. Was even more disappointed when he named Alex Smith as the Chiefs starting QB. Have called for his head for the various perceived blunders with time management and continued Chiefs PTSD pre-Mahomes.
I was wrong; he is really good at devising plays to get players open and seems to be genuinely liked by his players. Something that's probably not easy to do given the huge egos involved. So, the next time I forget this (and I'm sure I'll get emotional and curse at him), I will do my best to remember the late 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and most of the 10s when the Chiefs were simply a team that played well in the regular season and would lose to any and all teams when it really matters. I was especially impressed how he stated the obvious; that Mahomes makes everyone around him look so much better... Even the coaching staff. |

Obviously the NFL is amorphous and its hard to predict what will happen season-to-season. But at this point, Mahomes and Reid have defeated every possible challenge thrown at them. What can DC's even do at this point? Zone, Man, Cover 2, Blitz, Drop 8? Honestly, good luck. |

I looked past the schematic approach conversation that I had in 2013 and just looked at his results. And honestly, I still think that's a defensible approach, but ultimately I was far closer to right in 2013 than I was in 2018. He just has the right sort of mind-set for a defense that can complement our offense and excel in the post-season. |
