Man, the AFC just fell to shit, didn't it?

I mean the damn Chargers, who spent most of the season tripping over their own feet, clinched a playoff spot with 2 weeks left in the season. And the Steelers can still play their way in when they were just dead in the water 5 weeks ago.

Meanwhile the Dolphins are doing their damndest to take themselves out of the mix. The Patriots are proud owners of the most inexplicable loss in a decade or more and seemingly control their own destiny.

Somehow we ended up where we were last year when all the last playoff spot did was provide some weak sister an extra game they have no business playing...

Going to be some crap years in Raiderland. '23 draft looks like a poor QB draft. FA QBs to be had are terrible.

Hell, Stidham wasn't even the best backup QB the Raiders had in preseason. He just got the job because he was McD's guy.

49ers will roll. I'd be surprised if we score the rest of the year.

Not coming to the Chiefs, but it is going to be rough in Raiderland for a long time. Probably until Mark Davis is forced to sell the team.

doesn't sound like they plan to. if McDaniels could he would already be waving two white flags. Pussy shit.

Hell if Miami could get away with it they would be playing Tua the rest of the season despite having three concussions on the year*. And here the Raiders leadership is worried about poor baby Carr getting hurt and having to pay him another year, despite it being SIX ****ING YEARS since he broke his leg. I get the reasoning, but the alternative of just rolling over and dying is pussy shit. Especially when the last two games are against some of the teams strongest historic rivals.

*not saying this would be the right move either.

Stidham was decent and developing when he was in New England. Was named their starter a few years ago then had an injury in preseason. He knows JMD system and how he operates. He might actually do well with the starters for LV.

IF Stidham plays decently against this 9ers defense it will be a good sign and this gives the Raiders coaching staff a preview for next year.

FloridaMan88 12-28-2022 01:55 PM

Davante Adams decision to tie his future to Carr looks… unwise.

But at least he’s getting paid.

This is a cap related move. 33mil for a QB is bad enough, but if they don't cut/trade him after this year, then he has the leverage in negotiating a new contract at the market rate (north of 33 mil). So while Derek is a decent NFL QB, they don't think he's 33+ mil good.

Probably more needs in LV than can be filled in the draft in this coming year so its looks like a roster reset.

Um, lets not pretend Payton Manning or Joe Montana is being benched here. Carr is averaging 15-17 PPG isnt he? Carr wouldn't have done squat against the niners. He is ranked 31 at QBR and leads in INTs. I think some here cant get 2016 Carr out of their heads. Since the middle of last year, Carr has been mostly uninspiring and been carried by Jacobs when they do well. Even a mediocre QB this year could have won a handful of games and making the playoffs. Every loss minus one have been 1 score games where the offense has failed to score in entire halves. Carrs mechanics all year have gone to shit. His throws beyond 15 yards resemble punts or wounded ducks. Keeping him and paying him $30-$40 million next year would have been insanity.

Best for the Raiders to part ways, try to build a great defense while continuing to have a great running game and groom some QB while going with a bridge type QB for a year or 2.

O.city 12-28-2022 02:23 PM

But yes, Tebow was a bad pick. Can you recall all the other picks that McBugel had? Several of which were on the 13 win teams and SB team maybe?

Fear not though, you can likely keep your screen name if the NFL turns into a flag football league as Carr is a great QB when wearing the red t-shirt ;)

Eureka 12-28-2022 02:25 PM

Draft a new QB and let Stidham or (?) be a bridge QB. Some of the cap savings will help add to the defense. The Raiders do have weapons on offense that any QB would love to have.

Welcome to LV Tommy.......

lawrenceRaider 12-28-2022 02:25 PM

Greg Olson got more out of the Raiders offense than McDaniels.

Think about that.

RunKC 12-28-2022 02:25 PM

It’s amazing how Josh McDaniels ****ed them over. Derek Carr got this team in the playoffs without his HC for half the season last year. It’s not surprising that McDaniels comes in and does exactly what he did in Denver: set that franchise on fire

I'm a man of principles, even if they are based in pure hatred, so I didn't want Tommy Tuck Rule on the team I root for two or three years ago whenever the **** that was. Even if it meant he got us a Super Bowl. I sure as shit don't want him now.

this was definitely a reason to move on from Carr(at the end of the season), have seen him do this way too many times at the end of the game.

but on the other hand he was only in this position because the team that had been unable to get anything resembling a touch down all game managed to get one with under a minute left in the game. That's not on Carr, that's on the snake in the upside down visor.

the more unforgiving Carrception to ice the game for me was the one at the end of the Chiefs game. ****er.

I don’t see that at all.

Carr has an ironclad no-trade clause, increasing the likelihood that they will just release him.

I think all this Brady to the Raiders is ridiculous.

Carr could waive the no-trade clause as long it went somewhere he wants to play.

I'd guess Shanahan in SF could get some really good things out of Carr.

Agree. Brady won't go to a division that is tough.

backinblack 12-28-2022 02:56 PM

best solution is for Brady to just die so we don't have to speculate on where he plays next

A murder/suicide between him and Gronk would be the best.

this was definitely a reason to move on from Carr(at the end of the season), have seen him do this way too many times at the end of the game.

but on the other hand he was only in this position because the team that had been unable to get anything resembling a touch down all game managed to get one with under a minute left in the game. That's not on Carr, that's on the snake in the upside down visor.

Normally a defense that only gives up 13 is considered strong.
