George Liquor 10-06-2014 08:14 PM

I can't help but to wonder, what would the 2013 World Series have looked like if Matt Carpenter was swinging the bat like this?

BigRedChief 10-06-2014 08:15 PM

Ryu losing his release point at times now. Leaving balls up. This is the time to get him with Peralta/Adams/Molina up.

BigRedChief 10-06-2014 08:17 PM

Peralta has has one good AB this series.:(

kcxiv 10-06-2014 08:19 PM

They keep pitching Carp in the same spot! They need to either pitch way in and back him up or pitch on the outside!

Nice ass catch by Hanley!

They need to keep grinding out good ABs.

Peralta has just been a travesty this series. It's not the K's, but his ABs just look totally helpless. He's not even fouling the ball off with any authority.

And think we can have Lackey next year for around $400,000.

BigRedChief 10-06-2014 08:28 PM

Lackey has that Carpenter bulldog mentality out there on the mound. I miss Carp but its good to see someone in a Cardinal uniform with that same mentality.

He is an idiot. By every offensive metric, Carpenter was better offensively in 2013 than 2014. He's just conflating three hot games with the entire year.

Carpenter is a great player, but his bat profiles much better at second than third. At second, he's arguably the best 2B in baseball behind Cano. At third, he's still a very good player, but not elite.

That's why the Cardinals would be wise to continually gauge the trade market for Wong in a package deal that could net them a 3B.

Yep, we need a power hitting 3B in this line up.

They certainly didn't that inning. Molina first pitch swinging and gets it a foot in front of the plate. Wong trying to hit the ball out of the stadium. Get the guys pitch count up or at least pick a good pitch to hit early in the count.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 08:35 PM

Matheny will start Kozma against Kershaw in Game 4. Offensively, he won't give much of anything, but Wong is worthless right now, too. I just hope he's smart enough to start Taveras over Grichuk, should there be a Game 5.

I don't really want to resign Shields to be honest. 33 years old with 8 straight 200 plus innings pitched. Hell of a player but you are asking for trouble even with a guy who keeps himself in good shape. I'll let the Cubs or Red Sox get him for that price.

The Dodgers are a ****ing joke. I'd be ashamed to cheer for that franchise. I wish them nothing but ill will. I hate the cardinals, too....But at least they do everything right as an organization. Why didn't you bump that Kershaw thread the other night? **** the Dodgers. Can't wait to see their $400M payroll next year. What a joke.

Mozeliak raped that trade. Salary dump with a declining player who profiles better in the AL along with a 5th starter/long relief for a solid #2/3 pitcher with postseason experience who only makes 500k. Brilliant move said it on trade deadline day and still say it today.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 08:41 PM

It's unusual that a team has AJ Pierzynski and John Lackey and they are only the 5th and 6th biggest assholes in the series.

The question rests entirely around Craig's foot. The Cardinals' team doctors have been incompetent across regimes. If they ****ed up the original treatment plan for his Lis Franc and he gets it sorted out this offseason, the Red Sox got a guy who is going to hit fifth for them for 4-5 years and be one of the better hitters in baseball for a fair price.

If Craig's foot is truly ****ed and he experiences other age-related decline, then it is a complete heist for dumping the salary alone.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 08:48 PM

Ryu has thrown like 12 pitches the last two innings. Our lack of discipline just built the damned bridge for him to go seven with ease.

Still even if Craig's foot is healed, you have a glut of outfielders the majority of which are on the cheap. Just a numbers and business move that needed to be made.

That is correct. However, Matt Adams is a pretty fungible 1B whose real value in his cost control.

kcxiv 10-06-2014 08:52 PM

about damned time Puig

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 08:52 PM

Jesus Grichuk. Hit .100 if you want to, but how can you butcher the **** out of a ball like that?

That was awful.

Why not start Taveras tomorrow? He can't look any worse than Grichek has since his 1st AB. He hit LH pitchers at every level. He got the hit off a lefty in the series.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 08:56 PM

**** YES, JOHNATHAN.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 08:57 PM

Rosaforte just jinxing the **** out Lackey there.

And Grichuk misplays the dog shit out of another ball. Get him out of the game and put Bourjos in center.

kcxiv 10-06-2014 08:57 PM

There we go Hanley!

BigRedChief 10-06-2014 09:00 PM

6 innings, 1 run against this line up is impressive. $86 million in payroll in just 4 hitters. None of them are pulling a Hamilton this year either.

Lackey is money in the post season.

That was a ball outside and up at his shoulders. Good piece of hitting.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 09:03 PM

Kolten Wong and Grichuk are playing themselves firmly into my "hate" list. That said, Grichuk playing is on Matheny. People go on and on about the guy, but he's not half the hitter Taveras is, and he's not close to the defender Bourjos is. This team is better with Bourjos in center and Jay in right or Jay in center and Taveras in right.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 09:05 PM

Peralta turned into Pete Kozma at the stroke of October.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 09:06 PM

Brian Wilson. As if the Dodgers needed more douchebags.

Its not just his lack of success. It's the way he looks at the plate. He has not even looked comfortable up there. He has killed so many rallies. Just like in the 3rd in this game.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 09:09 PM

Jesus, Matt. Stay in and get on base there. That was a cream puff at your shoulder.

BigRedChief 10-06-2014 09:09 PM

BTW, I read that the Cardinals have told Adams to not bunt to the left side no matter how they shift.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 09:11 PM

Typical Cardinal offense against this ****ing idiot. Hasn't pitched in almost a month, has command problems early, but they still manage to **** around and fumble about enough to let him get through six on less than a hundred pitches.

Just awful

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 09:15 PM

Yellow w/ some orange in Webster Groves, a little SW of the stadium.

kcxiv 10-06-2014 09:16 PM

Looks like thats it for Ryu. Pitched a great game after not having pitched for 5 weeks.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 09:16 PM

Lackey has pitched circles around Ryu. The Dodgers have a far better lineup.

Yeah Puig had struck out 7 times in a row. He is going to get a hit eventually. That pitch to Hanley shouldn't have even been swung at.

his performance moves him up in the pitching pecking order if by some miracle we get by the Dodgers.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-06-2014 09:23 PM

Lynn was pretty damned good, too. IMO, it reinforces his position in the order.

Jon Jay: hitting .375 against LHP, facing a bad LHP, hitting .400 for the series, and Matheny bunts him to have Wong face a LHP in a must-score situation.
