RIP my Athletic account after the comment I just made on that piece of shit 'newsletter'.

One-score wins vs bad teams by KC in the dynasty era:

2019
KC 34 DET 30
KC 24 LAC 17

2022
KC 30 LVR 29
KC 20 TEN 17
KC 34 DEN 28
KC 30 HOU 24
KC 27 DEN 24

2023
KC 23 NYJ 20
KC 27 MIN 20

If only the Chiefs had beaten these crappy teams by larger margins, their Lombardis would have been shinier.

It's not good for their pulse records though.

That's why I think the whole cardiac Chiefs memes are crazy overplayed (and saw them again last night)... the game was definitely a grind and I wouldn't have been sad had I missed it, but the Panthers never even had a possession where they could take the lead (outside of scoring a touchdown + 2pt conversion early in the game, I guess).

It was frustrating to watch, but not stressful at all (oh no, Mahomes has to get into FG range with 1:45 on the clock? :spock: ) or lucky. Good teams can play like shit and beat the dumpster fires of the league... that's always been a thing.

I agree the game wasn't stressful. The only part of the game that elicited a bit of "ahhh ****, we need this!" emotion from me was when we had a third down on our final drive. Obviously whooped and celebrated the scores but instead of anger or concern for our defensive **** ups I just quietly sat there with my palm stuck to my face.

We also had losses against teams with losing records in 2019, 2022 and 2023!

Yeah, the defense did exactly what I thought it would do when they forced the 3 and out in the 4th quarter... and then of course the opposite of what I thought after.

And then it was "****, we're really doing this?" And even after all that if the Chiefs don't end the game, there's an OT coin flip, the possibility of ending the game by getting the ball and scoring a TD, the Panthers possibly needing to score.....

Goes to show just how much FA you can do before you really FO.... and we've seen over and over how they figure out how to win games.

Pats went 18-0 and then lost in the SB to a 10-6 team. Don't get too cocky.

No body is whining, it's called being concerned.

To this day, Patriots players argued that they lost because they opened up their playbook to beat the Giants to preserve their undefeated record to end the season.

Multiple players argued it gave the Spags and the Giants (and the Chargers, but they couldn’t capitalize) the roadmap to slow down their offense. I’ve always been curious about the tell they showed on tape.

Now we know the impetus for the Chiefs playing vanilla.

Spags told Reid all about that year.

You forgot 2020. Eight straight one-score wins to close out that season.

Probably the best, most complete team we’ve had in the Mahomes era and we were eking out narrow wins over teams like the Teddy Bridgewated Panthers, rookie Tua Dolphins, Broncos, Raiders, and the Falcons with God-knows-who at QB.

…If only Fisher’s achilles could have lasted four more quarters.

And Britt Reid waited until he got home to get liquored up.

The Brady refs were much easier to stomach with that disaster of an OL.

Had we been more competitive and gotten ****ed by the refs to give Brady another ring, it would’ve been very difficult to accept.

I will always wonder about what the game would have been had the INT stood.
