For some reason I cant post a picture but I had to put my dog of 16 years (a yorkie poo), Lexi, to sleep Friday evening. I watched the Chiefs game with an extremely heavy heart yesterday. Truly one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.

About a week and half later the dr found a mass the size of a baseball on Charlie’s stomach. It went from undetected the first time to baseball size that quickly.

That was Wednesday and vet gave him Prednisone shot Thursday to give us a little more time with him. He got so bad yesterday we have put him down this morning.

We are heartbroken to the point where even the Chiefs win yesterday was tough to enjoy. Maybe I’ll upload some pictures later.

I am just mindblown that a tumor grew that fast in our best friend :(

Sorry to be all depressing but I had to write this down somewhere. **** cancer

So sorry to hear this, but glad you were able to do it here where pet lovers will understand and console you and yours..

Sorry to hear this man. We've been fortunate that we've usually had time with our cats. I can't imagine something coming in so suddenly like that. Take care and try to think of all the joy they brought to your life.

(Assuming it's something you want,) take solace in the fact that your next buddy is out there somewhere waiting to be adopted. Every sad loss is an opportunity to give another pet a good home.

My cat disappeared just before Christmas last year. My hope is that someone captured him and converted him to an indoor cat. I still put out food, and the raccoons have amazingly shiny coats.

I lost my Starbuck today. Apollo (the cat) is very confused and misses his buddy.

Ugh sorry to everyone who has lost a pet recently

Our cat is getting old and we've got him on Gabapentin daily so he doesn't lick wounds into himself. Its kind of an "eyeball" amount in his food and sometimes it hits different and he gets really high off it

On Friday I was prepping some bacon wrapped potato wedges, went outside to check my smoker and came back in to him up on the stovetop eating a whole ass potato LMAO

So now we've been calling him Tater

Kcuniteds post reminded me I have a question. My 14 year old Brittany has to take apoquel in the summers to keep him from licking and scratching bald spots. Anyone know an alternative to prescription? I’ve constantly got stuff in my socials news feed like something from a company called dogs are humans that is supposed to be an alternative. Wondering if anyone has any experience.

Fishels and lifer, sorry to hear about your pets. I hope you can find comfort in memories of your good times with them.

This thread, sometimes difficult to read, reminds me of how good the people of CP are.

Thank you both so much! We are still absolutely stunned and shocked at how quickly he was taken from us. But in a way we are glad we won’t be having to make any tough decisions about Chemotherapy, surgery and all that terrible stuff.

We picked up his ashes today and they gave us a Two boxes… one with ashes obviously…… but then a surprise one that had his paw print preserved in it. Like a mold. Needless to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

Hoping for a win today for all our fallen pets in the kingdom

It was my parent’s cat but I lived with them for the majority of its life. I was able to find a 4 week old kitten in October 2022 standing on the side of the road completely abandoned. I opened the door and he jumped right in. The rest is history! :)

I’ve certainly been hugging him extra tightly lately. You just never know
