Gervon Dexter and a 1st in 2024?

We're getting to the point where I think we'd have to make that deal. I'd hate it, but Dexter's a 2nd rounder and the 1st is effectively worth a 2nd.

So a pair of 2nds for Jones? Eh, it's a hair light, but man, think of what that $20 million in rollover does for the cap situation next season. And Dexter might be able to contribute this season. Wormley won't be ready until October at the earliest but maybe Ioannidis can help out quickly. Hicks might have some gas left in the tank.

I dunno - there are ways to mitigate the damage for 2023 and ways to really catapult ourselves forward in 2024 and beyond.

Man, I HATE that it's come to this. I want him here long-term. This is a guy you want to see as a career Chiefs. But he's just gotta pull his head from his ass.

Not sure if this would be better compared to just letting him sit out until game eight. Either seem to be a viable options and realistic.

I love the proposed trade where we get both Bosa and Dexter. But San Francisco can’t possibly be that dumb. And then you think about the Trey Lance debacle and maybe they could. But I don’t think so.

He's become the Buffalo Bills. Get a postseason sack(beat the Chiefs). Your ego kamikazes your future

It's malpractice if his agent actually has him do that.

The true cost would be north of that due to the delay of new bigger dollary-doo's.

Please, this ain't Buffalo

In a league with a long history of players making stupid contract decisions this one is right up at the top of the bad decision list.

I'll take any kind of positive spin at this point.

They said before the browns chiefs game that KC was confident after the game is over that they will get something figured out with Chris so he’s in KC this year and possibly beyond.

I mentioned it a week or 2 ago, but if I’m CJ95s agent, I offer for my client to show up game 1 if a promise to not use the tag on him next year is agreed on. That’s what Silverback did.

If I’m Veach, I probably decline that option, though. See you week 8 and we will tag you next year and you can tank your value even more and hit free agency at 31…your choice, Chris. Balls in your court.

No more Joes for Chris..sorry bout your luck

we should get more than that in return? Surely?

Just like Hill, clearing out the $28-$30 million per season allows us to keep others like…..Bolton, Creed, Sneed and Smith when their contracts are up next year.

My optimistic prediction is that he reports Monday, which gives him 10 days to get prepared for limited snaps in Game 1, then another 10 days to get more into game shape for Game 2. So one game in 20 days gives him time to start ramping up for the regular season.

But that probably makes too much sense. Who knows what he’s thinking.

Chiefs are currently 10 mil over the cap, they have to be under by cut down day. Basically if Jones were to sign long term, he has till Tuesday

Pretty much where I'm at as well, right up to thinking it makes too much sense.

they can always go to Mahomes to free up that $10 million down to zero.

poolboy 08-27-2023 05:36 PM

10 mill? I thought we were flush up against the cap...what happened?
