Whatever you say Rust.

Not quite. But back to the question, why are MU fans obsessed with Charlie Weis and KU football? Judging from the lack of posts here during basketball season the obsession isn't a two-way street. That says it all.

The only ones with an obsession are you and Bambi....think about it.

It's just worth noting how nobody here even cares about Mizzou hoops or the garbage league they play in. And nobody has to even mention it. Says a lot about each fan base.

KU Football and MU Football are very similar in their history. Thus the "smack talking" works well during football season.

Basketball has been far less even so a drop off in activity makes sense.

Also you are seeing the interest in the other school fade by both fan bases. This all began the day MU left the conference.

Wow, what a bullshit post. Mizzou has only won more bowl games than KU has appeared in their history....yeah, that's really similar. All time record-wise, KU is below .500, and getting further under that mark every year, and Mizzou is well above .500, despite a horrible stretch from the mid 80's till when Pinkel arrived.

As usual, your post is inaccurate and full of lies. This all began the day KU ended the rivalry by having a stick up their ass.

KU has played on a bigger stage than MU and has more hall of famers. A 50/50 all time split with MU, etc etc

The programs are much closer to each other than the basketball programs. It's not even a discussion.

No one would debate the football programs being closer to each other than the basketball programs. Basketball is top 5 all time vs. top 40. Football is top 40 (Missouri) vs. top 60.

But the football programs are not anywhere near as close as you and others like to make them out. Yes, the historical series is almost exactly 50/50. Yes, KU has 3 players in the NFL Hall of Fame while Missouri has just two.

But every other comparison comes out strongly in Missouri's favor:

Conference titles: 15 vs. 9
Division titles (including ties to prevent Kansas shutout): 4 vs. 1
Bowl appearances: 30 vs. 12
Bowl wins: 14 vs. 7
Consensus All Americans: 12 vs. 6
Major Bowl appearances (this is how it will be counted going forward): 10 vs. 3 (note: Even just counting Orange bowl appearances, Missouri wins this 4 to 3)
All time winning percentage: .549 vs. .496

And if you look at recent trends, the gap grows even wider. Yes, Kansas rode a perfect storm to an Orange Bowl it did not deserve. Congrats. But other than that, Missouri stomps all over Kansas in the Pinkel era. Head-to-head record, winning percentage, players drafted, first round picks, etc.

Prison Bitch 02-03-2014 10:07 AM

KU absolutely deserved their Orange Bowl, we've been through this numerous times. They were 5th in the computers, 8th in the polls when selected. There are 10 slots available. The math is clear. Then they beat #3 anyway.

Mizzou got screwed when the Rose took Illinois. Yet Mizzou fans don't seem to mind Illinois (the only non top-10 team to get a bid) stealing.

I know you troll and love to throw the bait, but it's still occasionally fun to point out what a goddamn idiot you are.

KU has more one more player in the NFL HOF than Mizzou?? First off, I fail to see the relevance. Morgan State has more than Nebraska and Auburn combined. And since you're using NFL (not college) as a barometer, how many impact players does KU have in the NFL in the last decade? I can think of one...Talib. Do you know how many Mizzou players are currently in the big leagues? By my count it's 23. But only an idiot would use that as an argument for college relevance so I'll concede that means very little, besides showing you again how stupid you are.

You won on a bigger stage? Yes, congrats Bambi...you won an Orange Bowl game. You've actually played in 3 Orange Bowls though (Mizzou has played in 4). In the 120 years you've fielded a football team, you've made the postseason just 12 times. And won 6 of those bowl games. Mizzou has played in well over DOUBLE the number of bowl games. They've been to 3 Cotton Bowls, 4 Orange Bowls, a Fiesta Bowl and a couple Sugar Bowls. No one spouts off about all of these. You cling to this Orange Bowl win in a year that Mizzou finished ranked higher than you in both the Coaches and AP polls.

It would take adding together your teams wins over the past 5 seasons COMBINED to eclipse the number of wins Mizzou had this year. So, I fail to see exactly how far that one win you cling to gets you. And again, as I've stated to you before, the ONLY team with a pulse you played in 2007 outside of VT was Mizzou. Who beat you on a neutral field. You can put together every possible combination of teams from the South that year and you played the absolute worst three. None of which had anywhere near a winning record. And your non-con schedule was quite close to the worst ever assembled. You literally won ONE game against a "good" opponent.

Let's review where the great success of 2007 has gotten you:

1)your team practices celebrations in the hopes you might sometime win a game
2)you have crowds of less than 10,000 on a regular basis
3)since that OB win, you are 7-44 in conference play, 3-40 in the last 5 years
4)you lost 22 straight games to D1 teams and 27 straight conference games (this is difficult to even do if you try)

So back to your original point, why does the shit-talk thread die down during basketball season? Well, it's mostly because you and soap dropper don't have anyone to argue with. No Mizzou fan thinks we are a better basketball school than you. On top of that, basketball just isn't as popular as football. On this board and in the rest of the world. When this thread is active, 99% of the the talk is rational people telling the two of you to stop fingering each other and come back to reality. It's fun. Most people realize you're trolling. If you truly aren't and believe what you write, than I guess this is even more enjoyable. Either way, I hope you don't ever stop.

And you still don't understand what conference affiliations mean and the fact that it was impossible for 3 Big12 teams to be in BCS bowls. I don't think going to the Cotton Bowl (on par with the Orange in history and relevance) and dick-stomping an Arkansas team did anything but help Mizzou's image and future. What did your Orange Bowl win do for you?

I think this comparison works. Not too far off.
