Phil's gonna miss the cut if he plays like he did today. 3 over through 17 and probably played like an 85 round.

KC_Connection 06-16-2011 04:32 PM

At least Phil won't be in the position to choke away another US Open this year.

The guy is six shots out of second place. It's a long way from over.

That said, he had as bad of a tee-to-green round as I've ever seen from him, but his putter really saved his ass.

Aside from the slider he missed on 15, he really didn't make a bad putt all day. There were numerous putts that could have dropped that ended up a micron off, but you aren't going to be able to consistently putt those burned out runways they call greens this week.

Over par is probably going to win this tournament unless weather really takes the starch out of the greens.

Quick question, now that Tiger is out of the mix. I need a new favorite golfer.

I need to know, who is in the Top 50 in the world, who is the biggest jaggoff and drunk asshole.

Thanks

Rory Sabbatini.

Anthony Kim is a raging alcoholic.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-17-2011 08:13 AM

McIlroy holed out for eagle on 8. He's -10, just laying waste to Congressional, but he's got a 4+ footer for par on 9.

Phil already has it back to even for the tournament.

KC_Connection 06-17-2011 08:23 AM

If he keeps up this pace, McIlroy would have to shoot in the 80s on Sunday to choke this away.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-17-2011 08:32 AM

It rained enough to really soften the greens overnight. The USGA will fight back tomorrow. It's going to be brutal for the last few groups on Saturday.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-17-2011 09:24 AM

If any of you are watching the marquee group on DTV, they have to wait on every shot because they got stuck with Toms, Goosen, and Stricker in front of them. Horribly slow play.

Rory just threw another dart on 14. This is transcendent golf. He is flushing every shot he hits.

KC_Connection 06-17-2011 09:38 AM

He's dominating to an extent here that it's starting to remind me of Tiger in his prime. Eight shot lead.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-17-2011 10:17 AM

If McIlroy makes this putt, he'll be lower than anyone ever has at any point in any US Open, and it will be his 34th hole.

This is preposterous. Tiger didn't do this at Pebble. He had loose shots, a double bogey, a triple.

He has hit one semi bad shot in two days, and every other one wasn't even really marginal, they've just been flawless.

Coogs 06-17-2011 10:17 AM

McElroy has a pretty makeable Eagle attempt comming up on 16. probably around a 12 footer. If it goes in, he will be -13.

'Hamas' Jenkins 06-17-2011 10:21 AM

That putt was really pure, too. Just didn't drop.

-12 and he's in Tiger territory.

Phil birdies to go -1, -4 for the day, and he's getting blown out in his own group.

Yes it was. This has been very fun to watch.
