Indoor football is such an awful viewing experience. I really can’t overstate how much I’ve hated every game I’ve attended in a dome.

That being said, I’ve accepted it’s happening regardless and the new stadium is going to be so expensive it’ll probably price most of us out from ever going to a game again.

And if I do go, the wine and cheese elites that can afford to go will kill the atmosphere and make it nothing close to Arrowhead, so I likely won’t be interested in returning.

With all that in mind, knock yourself out Clark.

May have a retractable roof though.

This would be the way to go. If money and politics were no object

The Jones Edwards dome probably scared the Missouri politicians straight out of the room

And KC rarely has storms that just make it impossible for players and fans to get to the game safely, even though the storm the first week of January does come to mind.

Well, they did move a game a couple years ago, to Detroit I think?

Ok, so it was 10 years ago, damn where has time gone. :D

I wouldn't want to be a dome team going into Buffalo, Baltimore or New England for the playoffs. Denver is still not a dome so yeah we don't want to be a dome team going in there. Playing outdoors makes us tougher all around and having teams like Houston, Miami etc. coming to KC for a playoff game is an advantage. Would it be cool for the SB to held in KC? Sure, and it would generate a lot of revenue for the area. Whatever they build it needs to be in Missouri. If the powers that be in this state lose the Chiefs to Kansas they are complete idiots who need booted from office.

That place is ****ing sad.

It’s unbelievable that it’s only 30 years old.

Buffalo will probably never be considered for a Super Bowl or Final Four. Or major soccer matches and exhibitions. That's gonna be the push and pull, keeping the history of Arrowhead or making a ton of money on these big one-time events, concerts, etc.

College Football National Championship Game is in play now as well. Kansas City would be a perfect spot for that with a dome stadium.

Yep. Look how much money Jerry Jones makes off Jerry World for non NFL events.

Yeah, if it's impossible for players and fans to get to a game, they'll move or postpone, like they've done a couple times.... it doesn't have anything to do with playing outside. If the NFL isn't going to delay an outdoor game because the wind chill is -26⁰, not sure what it would take.

We’re lucky we have ownership that isn’t pulling an Art Modell. Knock on wood, the team will stay local even with a new location.

40 years ago -- sure.

Clark didn't want to stay in Jackson County. There's a reason he threw the match with this plan.

No smart businessman would've stayed at Arrowhead with a new, state of the art stadium being offered up in a far more commercially viable area.

Jackson County just fell to shit. Local politicians allowed to happen over decades.

This was a fait accompli. Even had the voters approved it, I'm betting something would've scuttled it.

Yeah - indoor football sucks.

That said, I've seen the proposals and taken the surveys.

I was very clearly not in their plans for their new stadium so my opinion don't mean a whole lot. I was out anyway.

What do you hate about it, besides being indoors? And which stadiums?

I went to the Cards/Chiefs season opener and enjoyed their stadium, but it was also first row of the upper deck, so hard to beat in terms of seeing the entire field and what not.

I don't think they make stadiums that are as steep and on top of the action like Arrowhead any longer, but that's dome or not and just sucks in general.

ChiefsCountry 02-25-2025 05:43 PM

If you are spending that much money on something, you want to get the maximum usage out of it. Arrowhead is worthless for much of the year. A roof would get so much more events to help offset the cost. A baseball stadium is different, because you have 82 games. It is getting used a ton. A roof isn't that big of a deal.
