Also, If Kirk Cousins gets a fully guaranteed deal, that's not gonna be good for teams that are getting ready to pay elite players.

Pisses me off. If a team pays a QB who isn’t even as good as Alex Smith (IMO) $90M guaranteed of more.... :cuss:

Dolphins are cutting Suh.

IMO, it just really shows how underpaid the elite QB's actually are.

If a guy like Russell Wilson hit the free open market, he'd absolutely crush what Cousins is about to get.

You’re beating me to everything. Lol. But at least someone is!

Plus, Cousins is positioned where after the 3 years he can get another free agent deal at 32.

Dude is playing it perfectly.

Mother****erJones 03-12-2018 08:33 AM

Now Suh is being cut.

O.city 03-12-2018 08:33 AM

Dolphins are eating 8 figures of dead cap for two years by cutting Suh.

Damn.

I don’t think underpaid is the right word, as any elite talent that hits the market will be overpaid regardless of position.

It’s just desperation from teams who don’t want to take a risk in the draft. I’m fine with that, especially when it was Peyton Manning. But Kirk Cousins? Not even sure he’s top 15.

O.city 03-12-2018 08:35 AM

The cap does in fact matter. These big deals just don't seem to work out that well.

It's not really a risk though, if they have the cap space. Spend the money and move on.

I wonder if Drew Brees hasn’t signed yet bc he knows Cousins is about to **** the market. If Cousins gets a fully gauranteed contract, imagine what Brees could do if he uses that as leverage?

That’s what LaConfora said on his podcast yesterday. His magic number is $30 mil per and these negotiations always drag out with the Saints

Brees Rodgers and Ryan are going to wait for Cousins to sign then re-sign/extend their contracts with their team.

If the Saints don’t have him signed by 4pm ET Wednesday, there will be a $18M cap hit accelerated directly to their 2018 books. It will stay no matter if he extends there or not. Think of Hali a few years ago.

The Saints have absolutely zero leverage.
