Chocolate Ale has BBQ-level demand from Boulevard consumers AND it has massive demand from Christopher Elbow's consumers. That's why it sells out faster than most other special Smokestack Series releases. |

if its anywhere near as good as the double chocolate stout then i'd love it. I need to see this 50 beer list because ive probably had most of them
|
It tastes nothing like a stout, which is what makes the beer so remarkable. It isn't a dark beer. It tastes like a strong wheat beer, with legit chocolate flavor and an unreal aroma.
|
im assuming people here have tried smoke beer. Whats your opinions on it? I absolutely love it

Ok, you guys have piqued my interest. I couldn't find any of the choc-0-beer though in my area. I ended up mixing a miller lite with some of this stuff. Very "meh"
|
time to talk superbowl beer....
i'm fortunate to have a couple of growler stores in range, my options: Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere Hop Harvest Rodenbach Grand Cru Flanders Red Schlenkerla Fastenbier (descriptors: wood, meat, bacon!) Rauchbier French Broad Gateway Kolsch He’Brew Hop Manna Victory Hop Wallop Southern Tier 2XIPA my tastes lean towards the DIPAs, and with this warm winter the stouts just don't sound all that appealing so none on the list(60 degrees today)...I'll likely pass on the flanders red and rauchbier as the crowd I'm with is not all that beer curious any thing there you love or hate? |

Lately I've been in love with the Samuel Adams Mighty Oak Ale.

the southern tier is one of my favorites, and in the end I care more about my pleasure than theirs... i haven't tried the Victory, Sierra Nevada, He'Brew, or Kolsch (though it is reviewed as a solid first timer type beer) |
Sidenote: while I do really enjoy a good rauchbier, I cannot even imagine drinking an entire growler of that style.
|
My cousin landed a job @ Boulevard right before Christmas and brought some non-named special brews to the party. The Holiday one was not very good, but the other IPA was fantastic. But yeah, it was still unnamed.
Can't wait for more! and Tank7 is godly good. I get it everywhere I can find it. |
WHO IS READY FOR SOME BUD LIGHT PLATINUM!?

I don't want to read the entire thread but has Old Chub been mentioned? I had some last week and was amazed. There is also an excellent Oatmeal Porter here in NC brewed by Highland breweries that's ****ing awesome!
|
Just drank an entire bottle of Chocolate Ale and a 6er of platinum after work.
**** |
Where did you get the Chocolate ale?
|
Got a couple of bottles of the chocolate ale last year and enjoyed it. Just a different, very interesting, very drinkable beer.

Probably going to try the Chocolate Ale tonight. Was able to get a bottle through a friend that works PT at a liquor store. We'll see..

[QUOTE=Phobia;8340014]Yeah. That's another NB offering I can tolerate. I actually try to avoid the 1554 though. Nobody likes me 4-6 hours later. I mean, like NOBODY.[/QUOTE
I agree, I've never been much of a NB fan. |

i've never been blown away by sierra nevada beers, not sure why as they seem to rate well... |

I thought the Chocolate Ale was pretty damn good. If you're expecting to drink a candy bar, you won't like it.

Oranges cause cancer over here lol. If beer gave me cancer then I'd die a happy man. |
Just went to my beer store. 4 cases of the chocolate ale. I didn't even buy one. They've still got BBQ sitting around there as well.

Had a Founder's double trouble at a local beer pub and it was awesome.

My first impression of Chocolate Ale was disappointment.... it was better after letting it sit a while though. Not great, but after the first several drinks there was at least a burst of chocolate. Maybe it was just the bottle, or maybe it's better closer to room temp...
After selling a couple at work, I have two left, so I'll try it again sometime. |
I finally got to try the BLVDs Sixth Glass last night (wanted the Chocolate Ale, but didn't find it in either of the two places I stopped). Very interesting brew. Very complex in flavor and aroma. It's one of those I'll drink one or two of and move on to something else. Was also sippin' on their Irish ale. And my Uncle gave me a Bud Light Platinum to try. After already having been in to the BLVDs, I couldn't even taste it. I've never been a big fan of Bud products any way.
|
picked up an Atwater holiday pack, it had 6 different beers
Dirty Blonde - not bad for that type of beer, light and refreshing with orange and coriander spice. Nothing special, had better. Voodoo - doublebock, 9.5% abv. Advertised as "big, black and sweet" and it was pretty meh. Cherry Stout - worst stout ever. Tasted like a flat cherry coke that someone peed in. Winter bock - not bad, had better IPA - meh Verdict - Atwater isn't that great, Detroit brewery. |

Worked out pretty well from my view point. Anyone able to get their hands on BBQ? I'd work out a trade for it with something from Texas that you can't get in your area. |
Definitely a good trade!
|
Had a Boulevard Tank 7 the other night. It was really great.
|
Mother**** yea. I've had a good beer week. My buddy snagged the last blvd bbq in fort worth and saved it andshared it with me (****ing bad ass) and now at gingerman and got blvd chocolate ale. **** yeaaaaaaaaa

Came across the Blvd Chocolate Ale on tap the other day, which I was surprised to see up here. it's pretty impressive how Blvd was able to present the chocolate flavor, but I'm not sold on it as a beer. It was interesting to try, but I'm not sure I could have put down much more than the 10oz goblet I had...
|
Boulevard is offering refunds on certain bottles of Chocolate Ale. The bottles I have are from one of those batches... I've heard some bottles are extremely bitter and undrinkable. The bottles I've tried are drinkable, just not very chocolatey.

although there isn't really a "try it before you die" beer in here....I thought some would find it interesting.
http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/y...-to-drink-now/ I was surprised Boddingtons Pub Ale isn't in here. i was surprised PBR IS in here. (although I do down some PBR's from time to time - better than Bud Light!) and once again...gotta say...if there's only one beer in heaven....it's gonna be BBQ. |

No Avery or Schlafly=Fail. |

do either of these breweries offer anything in cans though? EDIT - I did find it interesting that supposedly the Fat Tire tastes better out of the can. I know from experience that canning a quality beer sometimes just ruins it. like youngs double chocolate for instance....gold out of a tap...crap out of a can. I do like Fat Tire. may have to try the can. |
