Which, yeah, I really don't get it either. At least give him another year of development at OT and see if you can at least salvage him at RT when Taylor leaves. Putting him inside now when there won't be a starting job available for at least a year just doesn't make sense to me. |

Reading too much into anything this time of year is foolhardy. But IF they want to do this, they can. And the reality is that anyone other than Smith that's available will be a downgrade . |

Now, maybe they feel they HAVE to move on from him to pay a LT, and if that's how it goes, so be it. But whoever is at RG is almost certain to be not as good as Smith. Maybe that all works out in the wash, maybe not. But folks acting like this is absurdly stupid to even discuss paying the man his money are being dumb. |

I have no idea what he's going to do, and I'm sure he's got a line in the sand with Smith as well as everyone else, but it looks like a fairly crap FA class other than maybe two LT's.
It's a crap draft for LT's. It's a GREAT draft for DL. It's a GREAT draft for RB. So I wouldn't be surprised if Veach says **** THIS and just signs Smith AND Jackson and takes his chances in the draft for defense and RB. It's a great draft to do exactly that. But he never does what I thought he was going to do, so who knows? |

Ho-lee sheeetttt. Imagine if this happened. The burst on CP would be absolutely incredible LMAO
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Chiefs GM Brett Veach believes the team can retain both Trey Smith and Nick Bolton in free agency. How realistic is that? <a href="https://twitter.com/NFLonCBS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@NFLonCBS</a> <a href="https://t.co/BCsfzq2qb6">pic.twitter.com/BCsfzq2qb6</a></p>— Jonathan Jones (@jjones9) <a href="https://twitter.com/jjones9/status/1894520248617111914?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 25, 2025</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
he's not going to say he isn't interested in bringing anyone back when he's asked. That wouldn't be a good look and could potentially lower morale.
