Reid is proven, Dorsey still isn't. He wants to be the guy and that's why the GB rumors popped up. In his previous tenure in Green Bay, he was 3rd in command. With the chiefs he was 3rd in command. Unless you're going to fire Reid, Dorsey was going to leave.

The Mahomes theory is dumb. If Andy didn't want Mahomes, he wouldn't have signed the extension to develop him.

Maclin fallout.

This just doesn't seem to make any sense. Unbelievable, and I am flabbergasted.

waiting on Goodell to penalize the Chiefs two 2nd round picks for Maclin playing with a torn groin then being released.

And Dorsey signed 50 year old tamba hali to an awful ass contract. Not to mention his other bad contracts. It goes both ways.

This seems more likely than Reid being in Smith's court.

Reid may have wanted Maclin to stay and favored cutting someone else.

Reid has had full power since day 1. He hired Dorsey. Reid is the one who pushed for the Alex trade. Reid is the one who pushed for Mahomes. Whoever they bring in for GM will be answering to Reid.

Could be that they saw Dorsey as an excellent scout but as a poor manager of the cap and the nuances of negotiation (Emanuel Sanders negotiation, Maclin tampering, Tamba Hali contract snafu, waiting too long on deals for Berry and Houston, cutting Maclin). Or maybe Dorsey wanted more control and they weren't willing to give it to him. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out...
