It's June 2nd. Surprised, but not really worried at this point. However, with no significant additions this time 3 months from now, I'll wonder WTF we're doing -- other than tanking to surround Mahomes with better talent in 2018, knowing Alex Smith isn't leading us anywhere this year with or without Maclin.

We don't have a 1st round pick. Tanking is unlikely to yield significant improvement in talent compared to racking up regular season wins like we've been doing

Gotta admit that I didn't see this coming despite the drafting of Chesson and all the UDFA WRs. Will be most interesting to hear the spin put on it by The Chiefs.

I believe someone mentioned that it was significant that it happened after the two OTAs -- implying that Maclin maybe didn't look good. If that's the case, we'll likely see zero vets participate in these voluntary things in future!

absolutely looks like 2017 is a lame duck year with Alex. I'm sure we will get some fluff piece from Alex afterwards about how he feels "the Chiefs could have did more to surround him with talent but were more worried about the future with Mahomes" blah blah garbage.

They'll still win 11 or 12 games and may repeat as AFC West champs.

I agree. Turd deluxe.

If ever there was a wideout deserving of Alex's throws...

I know. I have a feeling I'm going to be happy about this cut when it's all said and done. Saved a lot of money and I don't know what he has left. Maclin was a breath of fresh air, though.

He was injured before he was a Chief and he was most definitely over-compensated.

No other team would have given him a 5 year, $55 million dollar deal.

And once again... because it bears repeating...

Alex does the same shit no matter what you give him for weapons. Give him lots of talent? He's not going to take a risk getting them the ball. Give him no weapons? He's not going to take risks giving his shitty options the ball.

This move didn't do anything to take away from our chances at making the playoffs next year.

The Chiefs now have $7.7 million allocated to 11 WR's.

You get what you pay for.

Maclin is going to go to Houston, Deshaun Watson isn't going to know better than to throw to him when he can't get separation and with his scorching 49mph ball he's going to throw about 19 interceptions.

Dorsey has now given two wide receivers 5 year, $55 million dollar deals.

Neither made it to Year 3.

Note to John Dorsey: Stop signing wide receivers to huge contracts in free agency.
