There was lot of discussion last season before the Texas Bowl about what makes one bowl better than another. Initially, people were upset that Iowa State got picked ahead of us. The Texas Bowl had a slightly lower payout, but it was in a better location and against a better opponent. Other than that the Insight Bowl committee got to pick before the Texas Bowl people, the Texas Bowl was probably better teams in a better location (for Missouri). If I remember correctly, people were also pissed because the Insight Bowl committee and the Orange Bowl committee are the same people.

When I was talking about better bowls earlier in the thread, I guess I was referring to the pecking order selecting teams. The BCS bowls at the top, Alamo in the middle, and Texas at the bottom.

Well, my old man was right. He didn't think the Big 12 was going to last long, especially with the Texas schools being involved.

What'd he say about Texas and the Big 12? My dad was aginst it from day one too.

I suppose that makes sense, I haven't ever paid close attention to the order they are picked. And as I mentioned earlier the payouts shouldn't matter because that's split evenly among the conference. I know the order the games are played are a factor to some degree as well, but there's really no hard and fast rule to rank them. IMO the Alamo is better than the Gator for the simple fact it's on in primetime with no other bowls up against it, that's why I was kinda surprised about how upset many of the MU fans were about it.

Probably something to the effect of it's going to become a corrupt pile of shit just like the last conference Texas was in.

Yeah, they just impressed the hell out of me. LMAO

I seem to remember you thinking pretty highly of that team at the time. Same with Illinois.:D

IF it is the Big 16 there wouldn't be much room for non con play unless they only play each team in conference only once..

Bill Snyder said it the day the conference was formed.

It's not about that!

I personally was glad Mizzou got the Alamo Bowl over the Gator Bowl....the point is the Gator Bowl picked NU over Mizzou basicallly because Nebraska is considered a national program with tradition instead of Mizzou who beat NU by 35pts in Lincoln.

Someone posted something in the last thread about 4 four team divisions.

I suppose it will be either a east v west conference or if they do the 4 four team divisions....I suppose if it was the 4 four team divisions that MU, NE, Iowa and Minnesota (or maybe Illini)would make the most geographical sense.

$$$$$$$$ are much more important than tradition, but the most important thing is avoiding getting left out to dry in the shakeup that happens with the advent of the first mega conference.

This is just the first step. The Big Ten's expansion will open a run to super conferences. Missouri and Nebraska must get on the Big Ten train or be left with much less attractive options when the music stops and chairs start filling up.

Texas and aTm and Colorado to the PAC-10 for sure. That probably will be ku's best option. OU and oSu to the SEC. Big East and Big 12 die.

Not a good time to be an Iowa state or kansas State fan. You all are most at risk. ksu at least has the current ties to ku. Iowa State is pretty much boned.
