Oregon 2017 ended up not competitive but that one still haunts me. Having Mason/Graham/Jackson and pretty much only losing because Udoka got hurt at the end of the year (a new KU tradition!) was just awful. Mason was a damn badass in the first half, doing everything he could.
2013 choke job/Michigan miracle 3s hurt. But we weren't seriously going beyond the F4 with the leftovers of 2012. Those round out a top 5 along with 2002 (Maryland, lord that KU team was loaded), 2003 (Syracuse, free throws), and 2010 (UNI, ugh). EDIT: those are not in order of ranking. 1997 was kinda before my appreciation for hoops. Any other contenders? 2020 covid cancelation or 2004 loss in E8 OT vs Georgia Tech are biggest that come to mind. |

Don’t forget we were even with Kentucky and Dook all 2010 and they don’t faceplant like the 2010 cowards |

And if we're talking metrics, only 2008 had a better KP efficiency margin than the 2010 team and it isn't particularly close. Citing some fluke loss to UNI that would have only happened 1 out of 10 times as some kind of evidence that 2010 was a bad team is pretty silly. |

I also seem to recall Landen Lucas getting absolutely destroyed by Jordan Bell (who contributed to a championship Warriors team a while back) so maybe that isn't so surprising either. |

I would agree with Manning and Pierce as 1 and 2.
I'm a little surprised Embiid doesn't get more credit. Yes he showed up raw and injuries meant he didn't play in the tourny. But he was a dominant college player down the stretch before his health gave out. |

His stats weren’t too absurd in that one, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. He was clearly on a completely different level around that time. Embiid would’ve caused a lot of problems in March if he stayed healthy. |
