No-one is saying Clark has done anything racist. The issue some folks have had with the whole Clark mania is the PRIVILEGE she appears to be getting. Called the "goat" without winning a ring. First class flights from day one. 25m dollar deal from Nike without even playing a wnba game whilst the likes of Aja Wilson is a champion and mvp and got nothing. And when Dianna said "reality is coming" she was dismissed and ridiculed. These situations will put chips on shoulders and the fire has only been fueled by the likes of Charles Barkley and LeBron making irresponsible statements that further strengthen the unfounded notion that "all the players hate Clark".
It was a bad play but on a previous Fever possession after Boston scored Clark ran up in Carter's face mouthing off stuff. What was said? We don't know but it clearly was enough to get Carter riled up.
Do you know most of Clark's teammates are young too? Boston is Caitlin's age (22), Smith is one year older (23). Berger is 24 etc. The veteran Mitchell is 28 but she's a small guard. Boston has done her best to stop these confrontations but she's not an enforcer. And let's be honest hard play doesn't mean Clark is being targeted. Teams are gonna do everything they can to stop her and being physical is just part of the game.
Cameron Brink has been roughed up, so has Alliyah Edwards, Rakiah Jackson and all the other rookies. And Paige, Juju and the other stars will get it too. That's the league which is why people screaming "racism" is silly. Angel has been getting beaten up and has had to leave the court several times after being roughed up. Has Clark? Nope. So it's not a Clark "thing" it's a rookie thing at the end of the day.

People like jemele hill insist her popularity is due to being white and straight and “pretty.” It’s not even implying racism… they directly said it. And at some point it will register with some of you that clark earns money because people pay to see her and buy her merch. Period. They aren’t doing the same for players like Sabrina or Aja for the same reasons Mike trout or Tim Duncan or kawhi aren’t marketable.
It isn’t privilege, it is sponsors bidding on her to earn a piece. And the wnba can choose to either get on board and get the perks and popularity they’ve been griping about not having. Or they can do their current dumb shit trying to get the world to like her less because she doesn’t “represent” them and mold her into the same image and dull style of play that turned people off in the first place. And that isn’t just physical welcome to the league stuff, that is the players blatant resentment for her and insistence on spotlighting other boring players instead. This isn’t even about turning men off to the game. This is about all the young girls out there watching as the women they’ve come to idolize isn’t being accepted by a bunch of petty jealous women. And if they aren’t careful those fans they’ve been trying to pull in are going to piss off those girls and especially the parents who say enough is enough with this shit.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this level of resentment to the golden goose. It never happened with lebron or Steph. It didn’t happen with tiger.instead it is coming from the very athletes who need her the most.
