If this is correct then it makes it even more ridiculous for Chris to hold out that long.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">With 7 missed weeks, 120% would be based on $18,958,335 ($11,916,667-base salary & $7,041,668-bonus proration) for $22.75M. Chris Jones' $500k workout bonus would be added back in. Tag would be either $23.25M or $24.5M depending on whether the $1.25M sack incentive was earned. <a href="https://t.co/0X6TDRh5iU">https://t.co/0X6TDRh5iU</a></p>— Joel Corry (@corryjoel) <a href="https://twitter.com/corryjoel/status/1694430004661375454?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 23, 2023</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

Just have to live with it now. The margins just got a little tighter. |

Tyreek Hill That's it. Unless you want to include OBJ who was in no position to ask what he was asking for. But the truth is we don't know what Chris is demanding or what Veach has offered. Only "leaks" we've gotten is Chris's side saying they want to be the 2nd highest paid DT in the league and the Chiefs side saying they don't want to make him the highest paid DT. What do you guys think Veach is offering AAV? Or guaranteed? |
I view the week 8 thing as his last attempt to get the Chiefs closer to his demands. I think it’s an empty threat and that the Chiefs certainly call the bluff and let him sit without caving on his demands.
Yeah it could potentially hurt and maybe cost them one game in the first 7 (doubtful to me given the schedule) but everyone understands fully at that point that when Jones does return he has to play basically his best ever to recover the lost money and still get a better deal than what the Chiefs might have offered. |

That’s also from a DT. Not a DE. It also happened when he had other players around him. Which we currently do. |

I mean people questioned if he'd play hard after he got paid the first time and I think he's definitely played hard, even if his production has gone up and down a bit. His developments in the run game are the best evidence of that. And people questioned if he'd still handle the rigors of the contact getting moved to the DT position out of the 3-4 and he handled that extremely well. He's done anything he's been asked and done it without complaint and, IMO, to the best of his ability. I'm not gonna shit on the man's effort at all. He's done nothing but grow and mature in his time in KC and he's demonstrated his commitment to the team to a substantial degree. |

Looking at our roster, if Veach needs to get a DT to fill in for Jones he could always trade for one.
Players that could be trade options: MVS: Open up $7M Sneed: Open up $2.743M Danna: Open up $2.743M if traded or cut CEH: Open up $2.085M Wanogho: Open up $1.465M if traded and $1.115M if cut These are the only realistic options and even then I'd take out Sneed and Danna because why weaken the D even more. So say Veach/Reid have been playing CEH with the thought of upping his value in a trade before the season starts that would open up another $2M and could go sign Dunlap or whatever. I'll get butchered for this buuuuut MVS could be the play here. You open up $7M by trading him and maybe a team is dying for a deep threat like him. Maybe said team has a DT they'd part with to get MVS. Reid can have Richie, Toney or whoever take those snaps and be just fine. Just matters what team has a need and a DT they will part with that doesn't go over MVS's $7M cap hit? |
