If your officials can't keep track of how many bunkers there are on the course (which no one can), and can't tell when 100 people are in one, you shouldn't be able to call it a bunker.

Okay, on that replay, he definitely grounded it the first time.

That area was so far away from the fairway...plus fans were standing on it. How can it be in play as a bunker?

Because the impression he left to the side of the ball with the heel of his club is pretty clear.

You wouldn't take a practice swing in that area b/c he didn't have a similar lie anywhere, and where he did, it was too close to risk moving the ball.

I hadn't seen that first replay yet where he set it down and brought it back up. I was talking about when he put his club behind the ball.

I routinely ground my club in a bunker...and occasionally even kick it out of the bunker and nobody says a word to me.

Looks like he is taking a penalty.
