He's exceeded expectations for the overwhelming majority of rookie DEs

To see how he stacks up with Watts rookie year was a serious eye opener, but if anyone expected him to come in here as a 10-15 sack, game wrecking tour de force as a rookie... they were fools

Oh I completely agree re those expectations, but there's no way there's not plenty of people who weren't expecting more than 5.5 sacks at this point, and fewer missed tackles. There was a better way to write that sentence but you get my point!

If Karlaftis disappears in the playoffs like he did against the Bills and Bengals, and goes back to JAG play then yeah that's where he'll stay as an average player because if he has any juice he'll overachieve in the postseason

I want to be proven wrong, but there has been alot of caveats and different interpretations of how he's played outside of the Pre-Season and Seattle game which were indisputably good.
