dlphg9 05-04-2024 11:48 PM

Hmmm could this help Rashee's case and get him quite a few less games than he would have gotten otherwise?

"The NFL will have the burden of establishing that the player violated the Personal Conduct Policy. The NFL also will publish mitigating factors for discipline which shall include acceptance of responsibility and cooperation, engagement with clinical resources and voluntary restitution."

That's in the new CBA. Seems like he has a smart lawyer or has been given good counsel from someone. He took responsibility and I'm sure he cooperating as much as possible, considering he came right out and said it was him. He's also telling his victims that he wants to take care of them and I'd consider that voluntarily.

Yup.

And when the guy was getting in trouble in Cleveland you were STILL seeing guys (of course Florio) bagging on the Chiefs for drafting him to begin with.

It's all ridiculous.

Florio should just be ignored and not taken seriously. Dude must have had his lunch money taken and his teeth knocked in on the playground by a kid wearing a Chiefs sweater or something cause the dude has an irrational hate for the Chiefs. From the “I’ll retire if Tyreek plays again” nonsense (still waiting for him to make good on that), to the non stop fever dreams for Andy and Travis to retire, to the whining about Mahomes’ contract, it’s all a bit bizarre and ridiculous in my opinion. Feel like he’s gonna end up in a padded room screaming about the Chiefs being the anti-Christ at this point.

I'm honestly surprised he's been such an idiot. Just always came across as a super nice, humble guy who was 100% committed. Aside from the sideline tiff with Mahomes in the SB there's really nothing I could see that suggested any of this. Man I hope something or someone knocks some sense into him.

That didn't occur to me right away. I think it has more to do with consuming drugs and alcohol but I could be wrong. I do know staying out of trouble is definitely part of the agreement. Him having bad character was literally never talked about heading into that draft...all of this shit seems to be coming super late to the party.

Dunerdr 07-03-2024 07:24 PM

"Most people l've talked to around the league believe that Rashee Rice will get a multi-game suspension at some point given all that's gone down. This is a lengthy legal process, which means he could start the 2024 season, actually play games, or finish the whole year, because the league likes to see the full scope of things before they make a decision on how many games a player might face. We saw that with Alvin Kamara a couple of years ago when he had his battery charges. He played the whole year, then was suspended for the next year. So that is a possibility that the Chiefs are bracing for here, they just don't know when."
-ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler on Chiefs WR Rashee Rice, via "SportsCenter"

So, basically, nobody knows anything but we’ll conjecture just to have something to fill the news cycle until camp.

I just worry about it effecting the postseason games. That’s literally all that matters.

With all that speed out there taking safeties deep and Kelce getting so much attention means Rice has a chance to be a game breaker in bigger matchups.

Can they just speed this process up now to avoid being in a situation of having to play without Rashee in the playoffs? The sooner this is over the better for the Chiefs.

The civil cases most likely will be settled before they see a courtroom, with the injuries requiring no hospital stay it will probably be within the insurance limits.

Cameron Sutton got 8 games after being charged with "Felony Domestic Battery by Strangulation"

Fellas, that's a LOT worse than what Rice did.

This should be 2 games tops. May be 4 games. But if the league's letting Sutton off with 1/2 a season when he choked a woman out, it's hard to justify them 'dropping the hammer' on Rashee.

Further proves what I've been saying about the 8 games rumor. It would be the most egregious arbitrary suspension in NFL history.

Oh I've posted the list a couple times in various threads.

Bottom line is that the actual precedent for this kind of thing is 1 game, 2 games tops.

And the league with all its butt-****ery will probably give Rice 4 because...Reasons. Hunt will take it and both Rice and his attorneys will contritely claim they've grown and matured from the experience and the world will keep turning.

But even 4 doesn't have an established basis. Just Goodell dropping the bomb on his good soldier owner Clark.

I still wonder if his willingness to eat shit on stuff like this is what got him the gig as head of the finance committee. I just can't understand why a now established owner from a respected NFL family constantly gets whacked around like a red-headed step-child by the league. And just does it with a smile on his face.

it would be and I fear they would do it for optics because of the Chiefs success, other team's fans bitch non stop about how they believe the NFL favors the Chiefs. Even though it's pretty obvious that they don't but with success comes the bitching.

"Hey Clark? How bad do you want that threepeat, because I'm thinking 8 games for Rashee, negotiated down to 6, sounds pretty fair for a team that's about to do something no other team has ever done in the history of this sport. If you're picking up what I'm laying down, that is."

Also, just want to point out that there was WAY more outrage over Rice than Sutton. Most people don't even know about the Sutton story. It's not like the Lions are irrelevant any more either.

It's all because Rice is a Chief, and our success.

For a 3-peat you could hang his ass from a yardarm for all I care.

Do we still hang people from yardarms?

Do we still hang people from yardarms?

I think so, but only in certain private membership clubs.

No, in our modern enlightenment we've moved on from yardarms

We now prefer a good ol' gibbeting

I mean, it's not all because he's a Chief. He could have killed someone.

No, signed with the Lions last offseason.

Oh yea, and what about the guy that choked a bitch?

At least if Rashee did, it would've been an accident.

100% fake/selective outrage.

Looking at the bright side here: Rice being out for any number of games will force Xavier Worthy to get more snaps which will help him become acclimated to the offense faster.

That will pay dividends when Rice gets back

Yes he did. But he was released by the Lions after his arrest. He has since signed as a FA to go back to the Steelers.

Didn't know the Steelers re-signed him, and I was aware the Lions had released him, but the point is that he was a Lion when the news broke.

Fellas, that's a LOT worse than what Rice did.

This should be 2 games tops. May be 4 games. But if the league's letting Sutton off with 1/2 a season when he choked a woman out, it's hard to justify them 'dropping the hammer' on Rashee.

Yeah, agree completely on 2 tops. Anything over that should be appealed immediately.
