Andy Reid 1-5 in conference championships, 1-8 vs the Titans

Offense lead by running the ball and a journeyman QB, shorten games, big time kicking problems that you try to convince yourself won't matter...literally the only thing you don't have is the elite top 5 defense.

Beating this team should be cathartic as they are literally everything we grew so tired of for years and years. A Carl Peterson special.

This. The similarities are uncanny to those old teams. And we always lost to an elite QB.

That’s totally a revenge/redemption angle I hadn’t even considered. This game is going to be so cathartic for so many reasons. Essentially a giant colon cleanse for 50 years of shitty Chiefs luck.

Callidus 01-16-2020 12:54 PM

To be clear what I meant by bumbling special teams. I should have been more specific. I am talking about all the random bad plays you have on them. I know your kick and punt return game are great most of the time. And yes your kicker is obviously better, ours might finish a season not even attempting one. I will take kern over your punter though.

It was poor wording on my part. Just in the games I have watched (not that many to be fair, around 5). You seem to allways have 1 or more ST brain farts.

Better cancel the game. No point in playing it.

Chiefspants 01-16-2020 12:56 PM

I always respect the opposing fans who hang around if they do happen to lose the game.

Those that just come to spout stats like "Andy Reid is 1-7 against our team" just doesn't really do much for their narrative. Especially when they're counting losses Andy had with the Eagles and with an entirely different offense in KC.

They beat us this year, and Henry is generational. They could win this weekend and make Andy 1-8, that's true, but we have a great chance, especially with how our team has transformed both in health and performance since we last played. We'll just have to see how it shakes out.

Karmic forces are afoot my misguided Titans friend. What was once is no more. Saint Patrick’s will be done.

Mecca 01-16-2020 12:58 PM

I'll give you a couple of stats.....

When is the last time a true journeyman QB like Ryan Tannehill went to the Superbowl? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the answer is Trent Dilfer and that is nearly 20 years ago.

Next question when is the last time a wildcard/6 seed made the playoffs....I believe that is a decade.

There's some numbers for you.

Donovan McNabb is no Mahomes...

Last year Dee Ford robbed Andy...

Mike Vrabel will be 0-1 and he will have lost to a better QB like Andy did in most of those games...

You should check out the prediction thread on the titans forum. I was giving my own guys crap for putting up score where we kick a fg. Our kicker is solid at kickoffs and he can make a xp. But I wouldn't trust him to kick anything longer than that.

Emphasis on the always. Only time I could say that that wasn’t necessarily the case 95. At worst Bono was Harbaugh’s equal. And that game came down to three missed FGs.

There is literally only one thing that scares me this weekend and it’s our history. We have the best QB in the league and the best QB in this game by a wide margin. We have a better defense than Tennessee, statistically, and the HFA. So NFL history says we win.

No one on planet earth would ever call the Titans offense more explosive than the Chiefs. ROFL

Well lets throw out games without our starters then.

Yds/attempt.
Tanny 9.2
Mahomes 8.4

In no way am I saying tanny is even near as good as the mvp over there. I was just saying our offense generates a higher rate of explosive plays.

Reid is 1-8 against the Titans.

Pretty sure that means that Reid is going to let his nuts hang this weekend to make sure he doesn’t end up 1-9.

The Ravens - Titans game was kind of crazy. Baltimore moved up and down the field and stalled in the red zone or gave the ball up. Do the Titans get credit or did Baltimore execute terribly?

First pick on lamar was a tip for a smart play by our fs, he threw it a little high. Second pick was just a great defensive play. The fumble was Jackson trying to do 2 much. The 2 4th and one stops was our great short yardage defense as was the pats failed first from the 1.

Not that this affects the chiefs though. I assume you would be throwing on the 1 or running a jetsweep or toss play. Not running at the line like the pats, ravens, chargers and a few other dumb teams have.

It’s kind of pathetic/sad that you have to go back to a division that hasn’t existed in 18 years to drum up rivalries.

But then again Jeff Fisher is your franchise’s all time winningest HC so tradition/history is not your franchise’s strong suit.

The worst thing that could've happened for the Titans, was the Chiefs winning exactly the way they did last Sunday. And also the fact that we lost the AFCC Game last season. We're gonna come out with a laser focus. Mahomes isn't losing this same game 2 years in a row.

He also set the record for losses as a head coach. Our records with him were auch a roller coaster but predictable. It was 13-3, 9-7, 5-11, 8-8, 12-4, 7-9, 3-13, 8-8, 11-5.

The Titans defense also doesn't seem to have much of a pass rush. If you can't generate pressure consistently against Pat, he's going to torch your secondary, period.

And where did you get those numbers for the Chiefs offense? Because I can't seem to find a single passing stat line that has the Chiefs lower than 5th. And in passing yards/game we're 2nd, total passing yards=5th, total offensive yards/game =2nd, total offensive yards=5th, points/game=5th, points total=5th . . . etc.

Please provide a link that shows the Chiefs as 10th in a passing stat.

It was explosive play rate.
Passes over 20yards and runs over 10yards

Forum will not let me post a link but you google most explosive plays nfl it will come up

You are right our pass rush is not that great and that does worry me. We get pressure by design not by having any purely dominate rushers.

As for our secondary. Byard and jackson are both playing great in coverage. Vaccaro is great in the box and ryan is giving up a crap ton of yards and catches but has 4 ints, 4 forced fumbles and i think 3.5 sacks. The other guys are below average at best.

Who won that division again? And the head to head when the starters weren't resting?

Man, they don't make trolls like they used to. :shake:

Yes I remember CJ. I also remember the Chiefs drafting a RB 2 rounds later in the same draft named Jamaal Charles who was better.

CJ2k still holds the record for yards from scrimmage in a season.... jamaal charles accomplished.... what?

oh that's right... nothing

We lost by 3 and Henry was injured that game along with our #1 corner...

although if i were about to get run over by Tractorcito I'd probably fake an injury too

Henry had his usual 180+ yards rushing in the first match-up and Tennesee still only won because of a fumble return for a TD and two special teams errors by the Chiefs.

Your only way to win is to rely on fluke-type plays.

Good luck with that.

If we lose or win I will be here to say I hope we have this playoff rematch next year or 2 tell you congrats, gl in the super bowl.
