Huh. OK. I wonder if his kind is supposed to be very long lived and so they enjoy an extended childhood, retaining the mental flexibility necessary to become strong force users. But also Ahsoka mentioned that they could share thoughts. If he has been in training in that environment for decades then it's possible that he never really developed verbal skills because he never needed them. Also she mentioned that he faced substantial negative reaction to him using force powers so a form of PTSD could have set in.

Saw it somewhere, but can't track it down right now, but someone has already made a meme about Boba comparing him to those chubby militia dudes that show up at protests.

Akin to this;

Sounds to me as if Thrawn is gathering all of the Imperial forces out on the Outer Rim.

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

It would be truly amazing if Disney pulled that off.

What you're missing is Ahsoka's exposition about Grogu, which happened after she connected with him through The Force.

Ahsoka said "Grogu was raised at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Many Masters trained him over the years. At the end of the Clone Wars, when the Empire rose to power, he was hidden. Someone took him from the Temple. Then his memory becomes...dark. He seemed lost. Alone.".

So apparently, Grogu was spared when Anakin Skywalker, who had just become Darth Vader, went to the Jedi Temple and exterminated all of the Jedi, including the Younglings.

We don't know who took him, which is another mystery that needs to be unraveled.

I think it's one of those things that you had to live through to really enjoy.

There was nothing like Star Wars when I was 11 years old. Back then, it was mostly Westerns, WWII movies and Family movies. Star Trek was run off the air because it couldn't find an audience and the "Special Effects" were rudimentary and obvious. Not quite as obvious as the Sinbad movies or Jason & The Argonauts, which featured Ray Harryhausen's Stop-Motion Animation, but obvious nonetheless.

Star Wars was just nothing like we'd ever seen in human history, which is why it broke all box office records and played in theaters for more nearly three years during its initial run, then ran again in theaters after The Empire Strikes Back.

Today, people have seen it all in movies and TV shows so for newcomers to the Star Wars Galaxy, they either buy into the mythology or they don't.

There's a world of other entertainment choices and if you've never been into it, I'm sure it looks dopey from the outside. I felt the same way about all the kids in middle school that were into Lord of the Rings.

I just didn't "get it" then and even after watching all of Peter Jackson's brilliantly produced films, I still don't get it.

I also was 11 when I saw the original. Had to be practically dragged to the theater by one of my friends because I was convinced it would be just another stupid space movie.

People too young to remember what movies were like prior to Star Wars are simply incapable of understanding the wonder of it. I don't blame them; for nearly 30 years film makers have pretty much been able to put anything on the screen they can visualize in their minds.

People don't know about the child because he was intentionally kept secret. He is extremely powerful, and was trained individually by grand masters of the order, not with other younglings and padawans. It's the reason he's alive and wasn't slaughtered by Anakin.

Now, the most interesting question is the identity of the person that captured Grogu.

Was it a Jedi? An Imperial agent? An Inquisitor or Sith?

I wouldn't be surprised if Sidious was behind his capture. Also, was he placed in Carbon Freeze immediately after being captured, which would explain how his memories went "Dark"?

If so, that would also explain his immaturity.

" There is another"

Yoda could've meant Gorgu instead of Leia if Farveau/Filoni intends to change the narrative

While that's possible, George Lucas would be absolutely pissed if Favreau and Filoni changed the meaning of that line in TESB.

He was so pissed at Abrams for changing Anakin's story arc that he refused to go to the Premiere and hasn't spoken to him since.

I can't imagine Filoni wanting to go down that road, as he still relies on George all the time. Plus, George often visits the set of the Mandalorian, which would end if they made that change.

I think it makes total sense.

Harvest Grogu's blood for use in experimental clone bodies. Once they've found the right "formula", Sidious could then have his blood harvested for use in a clone body, then transfer his consciousness into said body.

Boom! Sidious is reincarnated.

And it doesn't necessarily need to connect to the sequel trilogy, as it was the Sith that reincarnated him.

Hammock Parties 12-06-2020 05:27 PM

Blah. No thanks.

They're clearly attempting to use Grogu's high midichlorian count blood for something, most likely a clone of someone.

Who, other than Sidious, would have wanted Grogu for those types of experiments?

And Sidious was cloned in early Dark Horse comics so it can be completely unrelated to the sequels.

I don't know that they'll hammer the Sideous route so hard, but the dork videos I've seen are all pretty convinced they're setting up the beginnings of the first order.

Or Thrawn.

keg in kc 12-06-2020 09:00 PM

They've done a really good job this season of subverting expectations. Even with the leaks and trailers, nobody saw the krayt dragon coming, nobody saw Boba Fett returning last week, nobody saw them going straight to Tython or the child shooting a giant force beam into the sky. Nobody saw the Razor Crest exploding, or Dark Troopers being introduced, or a hundred other things. So my guess is that we can come up with a thousand different ideas for what's going to happen and where it's gonna go, and none of them will be right.

Disney is worth more than $170 billions dollars so they had plenty of money to launch.

Keep in mind, they initially thought it would be 2023 before they had 50 million subscribers, a number they hit in less than six months. They're shooting for 175 million by 2025 and by that time, they'll definitely be in the black.

The Mandalorian was once again, #1 in all streaming platforms this past week.

There are several series that would have launched already this year had it not been for the COVID shutdown.

With 8 new Marvel TV series and 10 Star Wars shows in development, with the Rogue One and Obi Wan series set to begin shooting in January, along with Season 3 of the Mandalorian, Disney+ will soon dominate streaming.

I was curious and I got bored and had some free time so I tried to find some data.

BLUF: Owning and running a streaming service is ****ing expensive.

$2.58 Billion to buy 75% of streaming company BAMTech.

$204 million annually for leasing the cost of AWS server farms (estimated based on Netflix $17m monthly).

$unknown millions to streaming devices annually. Supposedly Roku charges 20% of subscriber fees, as well as a share of ad revenue.

$500 million for new content in the first year. $75 million for Hamilton alone.

edit: Today I learned that I should have purchased stocks in Roku.

Or you'd be a billionaire if you invested in Netflix when the DVD on demand business collapsed and everyone wrote them off. Early 2013 $14, now $500

Or Disney in 2011 for mid-30's worth $150 or so now

It's set about 7 years before A New Hope or basically the same time period as when Solo ended.

The series was completely re-written because it was way too similar to The Mandalorian, which is weird in and of itself because Lucasfilm should have known this well before production was originally scheduled to start. It's now set for a January start date.

The announcement is supposed to include new movies and TV series that haven't already been unveiled.

I would imagine the series will have flashbacks in which Christensen will appear as Anakin, as well as playing Darth Vader, as he did at the end of ROTS.

Rangers of the Republic just has to feature Cara Dune.

I mean, they set that up after Chapter 4 this season and it's hard to believe she won't be involved.
