Folks in Bath feel strongly that LBJ will sign w/ CLE. LBJ's camp contacted cops hour ago to alert them of tonight's annoucement.

It's done deal. Decision will come tonight. Ohio security already put on notice and have ramped up security by Lebrons house

Best-case scenario for non-Heat and non-Cavs fans:

"I'm taking my talents to Houston (or Phoenix)."

The comedy would last for weeks, if not months.

I don't think it was an overreaction. Albert pujols was vilified despite winning the Cardinals a world series. LeBron, on the other hand, didn't finish what he started and handled the announcement very immaturely. I would bet many fan bases would have reacted similarly, let alone a fan base with as many bad breaks as Cleveland has had.

Sure some of it was overreaction. It just surprises me that so many ffan bases pretend like they would have acted any differently. If anything, it speaks to the passion of the Cleveland fan base. Even though the cavs are repeatedly one of the worst teams in the league, they still have respectable home attendance numbers.

They need a true 5 who can shut down the middle in order to allow Love to bounce out to the perimeter when the defense allows that jump shot.

A Tyson Chandler-type of center would do wonders. Anderson Verejao is not enough.

Cleveland is LeBron's best chance to get more rings than Jordan or kobe, IF they keep wiggins and he is what they think he is.

LeBron could possibly lead them to a couple and when wiggins has matured he could lead them to a couple more as LeBron ages.

I think Varejao and haywood will be adequate for now. I don't have huge hopes this year but at least that's better down low presence than Miami had. They could probably also use their sign and trades for Hawes, deng, and Miles to get that type of help.

Signing Allen and James Jones would be huge wins too.

Bosh might have 2 titles and 4 finals appearances; but if the other Heat player you are talking about is Wade - he has 3 titles, 5 finals appearances, plus a Finals MVP award.

Wade was the only one with a ring when James and Bosh joined him. Same situation as Cleveland.. LeBron will start out as the only one with a ring. Cleveland is younger, and has 100x more upside. Also one of his "current" teammates played for Blatt in Europe and thinks he's the best coach he's ever played for... Including their current coach in Miami.

What? ROFL

Lebron has yet to miss more than a couple games at a time during the regular season. Has he missed a single playoff start due to injury?

And that's for a guy who's been in the league for 10+ years. He's unbelievably durable when you look at the minutes per game he's had to play in his career.

Right now, it's a weakness. But it's not bad. Better than Miami. Varejao is decent defensively and an excellent rebounder. Haywood and Tristan Thompson are depth. It goes to the point that the cavs are probably a year away, but at least compared to Miami, they're not as far off as people think.

They will probably also swing some depth signings if LeBron signs. Hawes, Deng, miles will probably be sign and trades which might land a depth center. Which is why I'm not a fan of trading for love. Stick with Wiggins and find mid level guys to fill in depth and more importantly, veteran bodies

Totally. Just wait it out and then the Wolves can give them Love for free.

If the Cavs were smart (big if) they wouldn't trade for Love. Sign Lebron, clear the cap space. There is exactly zero chance of Love signing long term with anyone if he knows there is space on Lebron's team next year.

They'll still contend with Lebron this year without Love. Everyone gets acclimated and then you bring Love in without losing any of your pieces.

I think most people know that Chris Grant was an absolute moron. He is apparently the one who pushed to also hire Mike Brown.

Griffin has been excellent this offseason so far. Fired Brown immediately, very shrewd in clearing cap space for Lebron, hired two very highly regarded coaches, and didn't screw up with the #1 pick. Even if they don't land Lebron, Griffin has moved the Cavs in the right direction for sure.

Whether Lebron plays with Miami or Cleveland, I don't think either team is equipped to win against the West. Which is why it doesn't make sense to me for him to go with a team like Miami that is built to win now, but horribly equipped to win in the future. We don't know what Blatt will bring to the table, but we can probably expect a lot of hustle out of his guys, an active defense, and a motion offense that is constantly moving. That's a much better formula for beating the Spurs than an aging, tired legs defense with the Heat that always seemed to be 2 seconds too slow on every pass.

KC_Connection 07-10-2014 04:09 PM

Wade is standing next to LeBron at his camp. Clearly going back to Miami now.

That report was from Sheridan. It's been reported that Riley was not, in fact, alone, by multiple other sources. I quoted a couple of them earlier. And my point with this post was just to show that not every damn thing means LeBron's going to Cleveland, in the hopes that we could stop getting "LeBron's mother's cousin's brothers, best friend's barber said he saw LeBron in the midwest last month, so he's definitely going to Cleveland." garbage.
