Is Mundine's first name really spelled 'Jimmay'.
Too close to the South Park character.

I'm not in the locker room but I've got this sickening feeling like the coaching staff is saying shit like "Awwww, it's okay. It's Tyler's big day...we'll get em next time"

If the roles were reversed the KSU coaches would be telling the players to rip his head off and his daddy's too while you're at it.

Way too friendly of an atmosphere today.

George Liquor 11-29-2014 04:59 PM

God, we suck.

I do wish ku would get better. These games are ****ing boring when they are over by half time. It's fun to slaughter your Rival, but when you are watching the game from the stands, it's a lot more fun when its competitive. It keeps the crowd involved.

The 20 best kids in the state sign with KSU or someplace else. The next 20 walk-on at KSU and would rather sit for 3 years to have a chance than play for KU. Even when a decent player signs with KU, he can't stay eligible. **** it, you win. Shut it down.

Probably. Weirder things have been known to happen, though.

Iowa State is worse right now, but they have committed to improving their facilities and stadium - something Kansas really needs to focus on.

IMO.

Won't happen. Alumni won't invest until the team gets better, team won't get better without facilities upgrades. Vicious cycle, no improvement. KU will continue to suck.

Wrong, Debbie downer. We have good facilities except for stadium which is the next project. The main donors know how this works.

Yeah. The promised stadium plans. Weren't we supposed see those at the end of last basketball season?

(Answer: Yes. I know, I asked Dr. Z himself. Can't commit to the stadium until the money is there... and it ain't there.)

Right now Pelini likely thinks he's too good for KU, but he's not. And you're right - he would swing the culture immediately.

I mean with this Harbaugh thing - there are just so many moving parts right now with him. Will the Niners actually fire him? Will Michigan fire Hoke and beg him to take the job? Will he end up in Florida? Does his wife wanting to come home override ALL of that?

However it works, it will be interesting to watch in the coming months.

Right now kids are making their choices. Who in their right ****ing mind would choose to come to Kansas. Kids want to win more than they want to play. There's a four-star kid at Lawrence High right now that has an offer on the table from Kansas. Who wants to bet he goes somewhere else? Hell, I'd bet even money the Moore kid that verbaled to Kansas will end up somewhere else. Apparently, KSU is showing interest...

I guess I didn't know Nubs finally pulled the trigger. What finally was the straw that broke the camel's back?

DeezNutz 11-30-2014 03:38 PM

While Pelini would be a fantastic hire for KU, he would be an absolute idiot to take that job. The better play for him is to be a D-coordinator in SEC, where he will make $1M+, while coaching a host of future NFL players.

This will set him up well for another job down the road.

KU is in a tough spot. They have been a shit show for so long that their only hope is to locate the "next great thing," and these are always long odds.

Depends on who you hire. Mason & Mangino got (or developed) a lot of good players, Allen-gill-Weis didn't

Sources: Kansas narrows coaching search, targets next week for hire

Kansas canned Charlie Weis back in September, but the search for his replacement now is finally heating up. Sources tell FOX Sports that Jayhawk brass wants to hire a new head coach by the middle of next week. There is still some internal support for interim head coach Clint Bowen, who got the Jayhawks to play harder and be more competitive after Weis was fired, but they were only 1-7 under Bowen and were outscored 95-20 in their final two games.
A big part of the search, which sources say has been conducted via phone interviews, has revolved around former KU assistants with ties to the Mark Mangino era when the Jayhawks had a lot more success.
Two candidates who both have good shots at the vacancy are Ohio State co-offensive coordinator and O-line coach Ed Warinner and Texas A&M wide receivers coach David Beaty. Warinner, a source told FOX Sports Wednesday night, has interviewed for the job. Nebraska OC Tim Beck, another former KU staffer, also interviewed and is getting plenty of consideration. Word is, there is also at least one other coaching candidate --€” a sitting head coach, maybe two --” who intrigues the Jayhawks.
Kansas is just 12-48 overall and 3-41 in conference play since Mangino was forced out following the 2009 season.

You realize that's Texas A&M, right? These guys roll off the assembly line in the State of Texas. You're just choosing the accessories off the assembly line when you are aTm. When you are Kansas, you get whatever falls off that assembly line. aTm has been getting those guys long before they even knew how to spell Beatty's name correctly in Texas.

They fire head football coaches so often that they're now hiring two at a time. Plus, Kansas likes to have at least 400 pounds of head coach at all times, so this works out pretty well.
