Boat Race
In a sporting event, the team getting out to an early lead and coasting home.

Apples to apples, bud. We're talking your HIGH POINT. Like the best it's ever been for you. And that was 2 blowout losses in non-title games. My best moment was being in person to see my team storm back to win the title. (Too bad you'll never experience something like that)

It's remarkable that such a pathetic athletic department was chosen for a conference upgrade, isn't it?

I know it had you all beaten up inside to see your "rival" doing well, you must have been bullied by a Mizzou kid at a young age to care so much about something that doesn't concern you. I made a ton of money off Mizzou this year. Just go check the weekly CFB threads.

I knew they had a soft schedule.

Does anyone care if the Big 12 is better than the SEC in basketball? I guess if you are a KU fan maybe you care. Nobody else does.

We did beat our conference replacement/upgrade easily, so that's nice. I really don't care about basketball apart from what my team does, though. The secondary sports are just idle offseason pursuits.

That is not true, and you know it. Your lack of honesty is not surprising here. Georgia was a top ten team when Mizzou beat them this year. Florida was #15 when they came to Columbia, and they were still in the SEC race when Mizzou beat them. (You could accurately say that Mizzou sent their season into a tailspin, after they got beatdown in Columbia they basically mailed in the rest of the year).

Besides, KU loses to everyone...whether they have a pulse or not.

If your basketball team can win their next three games, KU will be .500 on the year in the two revenue sports. Good luck.

KU: 9-12

Mizzou: 20-2

I don't know. The Big 12 keeps getting ditched by major programs and adding turds to replace them. I'm not sure that winning that conference really counts for much anymore. Winning the SEC title in football means finishing above several of the greatest programs in history. Winning the SEC title in basketball means finishing above the greatest basketball program in history and multiple other teams that have won National Championships in the modern era.

Winning a conference title in the Big 12 means finishing ahead of a couple of state schools and a Baptist school. Kansas did manage a football victory worthy of storming the field, though. Congrats.

So...you ask who in the SEC has a better overall athletic department than Baylor...and then talk shit because non-revenue sports were brought up in response to your question? That's what is known around Kansas as "over the back". You can get banned from this message board for such imaginary transgressions.

I think you're confused again Saul. By "ath dept" I only refer to the two sports anyone knows or cares about. I'll stipulate your point that there might be programs with better minor sports that nobody knows anything about.

Stretch what out? If you want to talk about revenue sports rather than athletic departments, just say so.

Mizzou is 20-2.

Kansas is 9-12.

I turned on the show and whoever brought up the quality of the audio made a great point. It's hard to tell what he actually said because the audio is so bad. At the same time, it also seems telling that KSHB has not released the audio/video of the segment with much better quality that could easily clear Jack's name.

And yet when realignment was going on no one came knocking on KUs door. Amazing. Enjoy being in a league that is slowly becoming more like the old Big East and less like the SEC (at least in football which is the only sport that really matters).

I couldn't care less, but I wouldn't be surprised if it bunched enough panties he'll get slashed or have to publicly apologize for the comment. Who would have thought that? You're bragging that the rules prevented four SEC teams from playing in those bowls. If the same rules applied to the tournament, the Sun Belt would get as many teams as the B1G. That doesn't make the Sun Belt a basketball conference on par with the B1G.

KU is probably considered an elite basketball school by most who care about sports with things like tradition, pedigree and such. Missouri is just a generic school with 0 tradition in anything.

It sucks that basketball is a secondary sport that no one cares about, though. It's never on national TV and nobody ever talks about it. It's not even on par with college baseball or volleyball.

People do care about basketball, I get your sarcasm. I think KU is a great basketball school no doubt. Elite? Not sure. They do have as many championships over the last 25 years as Florida who I also do not consider elite. Are they a better basketball school than Missouri? Sure without a doubt but I would like to see more NCAA trophies in basketball before calling them elite. Sure basketball is in a higher category than baseball and women's volleyball but at the end of the day when realignment happened it was viewed as irrelevant and secondary which is why an average at best basketball school like Missouri moved to the SEC and why an average or worse ND is coveted by almost every conference. At the same time an "elite" basketball school like KU was ignored.

I always sorta chuckle when I hear MU fans talk about playing for a conference title. It's so sad. KU bball has won the last 9 straight. We hang our conf titles on two banners there, the years packed on them. Not enough rafter room.

Eventually we will have to store our banners in a gigantic warehouse, like you see in the last scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark

Not surprising. There are only a handful of major conference schools that consider themselves basketball schools, and all of them have had more success in the modern era than Kansas.

Duke
UNC
Kentucky
UCONN

Indiana is arguable, I suppose. They have three titles since 1975, though.

Since 1954 KU has the same number of championships as the University of Florida and the University of San Francisco. They have one more than basketball powerhouses LaSalle and UTEP. They are a great program no doubt, but when I think elite I expect to see more NCAA championships. They have three in the past 74 years. If they fail to win it all this year that equates to one every 25 years on average. Still better than Mizzou without a doubt, but not "elite".

Nobody at Mizzou even gives a shit about basketball until football season ends...but here we are trucking UCLA on CBS in front of the entire country (while Kansas couldn't even draw a 2 locally for whichever team they lost to that day).

Are you going to grab tickets to the game in KC? There are plenty still available below face value, so you might as well. I don't know how the atmosphere will be, but it's great every time I see Mizzou play. The place is always rocking.

They are an elite basketball program. I'll give them that. They just aren't Duke, UCLA, Kentucky, UCONN, etc. where they can point to all of their titles to deflect from their football ineptitude.

That's impressive until you realize that you play against conference opponents who have zero national titles between them.

They were NCAA tournament champions back when that tournament didn't matter, they were called Oklahoma A&M, and were still in the Missouri Valley conference playing while the country was fighting WWII...but, yeah...that's a great selling point for your conference.

Hey guys...the second best basketball program in our conference won the second best postseason basketball tournament 7 decades ago. Validate us as a conference.

Hooray

MU fans are just bitter that they couldn't back door their way into the NC game. They tried to perpetrate one of the greatest frauds in college sports history this year and were (rightfully) denied. And they're mad they were exposed.

Fred Hoiberg will bring at least one National Championship to Ames. At least.

This is awesome. When the discussion is about football, Kansas fans want to talk basketball. Now that Wilt Wiggins and company have been exposed, and Mizzou basketball is 9-0, the conversation turns to talking shit on Mizzou football...the Mizzou football team that is 11-2, SEC East champions, and ranked in the top 10.

Football
Mizzou: 11-2
Kansas: 3-9

Basketball
Mizzou: 9-0
Kansas 6-3

Mizzou is running full steam ahead in all sports and having success in the best conference in the country, and CBS devoted seven straight hours of national programming on one of the biggest sports Saturdays of the year to wall to wall Mizzou coverage.

Kansas, on the other hand, has the same dumpster fire of a football program we've come to expect, their conference is held together with bailing wire and duct tape, and their beloved basketball team is simply mediocre and struggling to sell tickets in Kansas City. Even their local television ratings are suffering.

Have fun playing with your new friends from West Virginia and Fort Worth.

Says they're 14th best team in the nation, about a +2 dog vs Okie Light. Would be hard pressed to find anyone who'd disagree obv.

If we have a down year and have to go to the NIT, yeah we'd probably win that too.

Not even close Bambi. Those are only dual appearances. Schools who won a title in one sport AND won a game in the other is quite small:

Kansas
Florida
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Louisville

The true elites.

These schools are beyond elite. They are a different category.
