My Patriots draft so far:
1: Bruce Campbell 2: Brandon Ghee 2: Corey Wootton 2: Ricky Sapp 4: LeGarrette Blount |

That's a nice haul, Hamas. This draft is so loaded with talent I can wait to see the Chiefs first five picks. OTW, did a nice job. I can't wait to see what Pioli will do.

God.....I couldn't really see anybody that I wanted with this pick for the Eagles. I was hoping that Blount would last 2 more picks...but that didn't happen. So instead of going after someone who I think could help take some of the load off of McCoy.....I'll go with another weapon for McNabb/Kolb/Vick.
The Philadelphia Eagles select Dennis Pitta, TE, Brigham Young University. |
My pick for the Packers here I think is solid value and gives them a player who will bring some versatility on offense and special teams..adding some speed and playmaking ability to a backfield that needs it...
Green Bay selects Joe McKnight, RB, USC |

The Cards are going to go with value and then upside.
First, this player offers versatility at center and guard: Eric Olsen, C, Notre Dame. |
Next, this player must put on weight and transition from the spread. Both can be done, and this is a great place to take a risk on a player with much upside:
Tony Pike, QB, Cincinnati. |

I think my Packers draft has shaped up quite well.
|
I think the Cowboys are getting a steal here. This kid is a playmaker in the return game, and should be nice in the nickel for the Boys. Here is a player that will change or win a game by returning a kick or punt back for them.
Dallas Cowboys select Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama |
I am at the midpoint for both of my teams, I take the 5th round off.
Miami Dolphins 1. Dan Williams, NT, Tennessee 2. Damian Williams, WR, USC 3. Aaron Hernandez, TE, Florida 4. Myron Rolle, S, Florida State Dallas Cowboys 1. Charles Brown, OT, USC 2. Jon Asamoah, G, Illinois 3. Linval Joseph, NT, East Carolina 4. Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama |
The field of players is gradually being narrowed down to guys either with potential or great players with strong question marks.
This guy here has good movement, makes solid tackles, and is awesome in run support. He'll be a good interior linebacker for the Chargers' 3-4 scheme. Also has two years of starting experience in the SEC. The San Diego Chargers select Perry Riley, OLB, LSU |
You know what....someone has gotta take him. I don't think that it's too much of a reach in the bottom of the 4th round. He can come in and get some goal line work for the Eagles and take some of the 3rd and short carries.
The Philadelphia Eagles select Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford. |
My drafts so far:
49ers 1. Joe Haden, CB 1. Earl Thomas, FS 2. Brandon Spikes, ILB 3. John Jerry, OG 4. Kyle Calloway, OT Eagles 1. Everson Griffin, DE 2. Jared Veldheer, OT 3. Jamar Chaney, LB 3. Dekoda Watson, LB 4. Dennis Pitta, TE 4. Toby Gerhart, RB |
I just started perusing this mock and I really like what the Cardinals are doing.

Chargers
1. Ryan Matthews 2. Dominique Franks 3. Carlton Mitchell 4. Perry Riley In hindsight, the Chargers could use some more defensive talent. Riley is a solid player who will contribute on special teams and will be a fierce tackler and defender, but he's not the flashiest. Franks has great potential but needs time and coaching. His rookie season won't be that great. Overall, I see my Chargers draft so far as stocking up for the future when more veterans are lost to free agency and retirement. This will help them continue to be competitive and tough. |
I've yet to see anyone who hates there draft picks.

Good. I've been out all day and feared I was leaving everyone hanging. But instead, that's Direckshun. I guess you can just do any ****ing thing you want when you win the draft. I'm neg repping his ass.
|
Where is D and his pick? This is not how you win the draft.:)
|
Direckshun has about 3 hours.
On a selfish note, I'd really like to get my R5 picks in before I leave town on Thursday night - let's get this thing moving. |
Sorry. My internet is flickering in and out.
No discussion -- I have to post this before my connection dissolves in another thirty seconds. The Vikings start trying to beef up that corner position with CB Alterraun Verner, UCLA. |
Quote:
|
It's time to start beefing back up that line. We're going to take a 2nd team all ACC left tackle with this pick. He's got the prototypical body for the position and we hope that he can blossom into a starter at some point.
The Indianapolis Colts select Ed Wang OT Virginia Tech |
Wang is a guard, IMO.
|
Quote:

I thought about Selvish Capers, but he's just too much of a project IMO.

BCF's pick for the Saints via PM:
Kam Chancellor, FS, Virginia Tech |
doomy and then the 5th round and OTW gets to put the icing on his Chiefs draft.
|
Any chance that Chancellor (pardon the pun) gets moved to SS?

Translation by Direckshun: Expect a kicker, punter and longsnapper. |
Chase Coffman is pretty much an unknown for the Bengals. There was some disappointment in his rookie season, and the value here is too good to pass up with a very athletic TE on the board. He will need work on his blocking coming from the spread, but there is some upside here and will at least give the Bengals another option at TE. The Bengals select Ed Dickson, TE, Oregon.
|
I'm honestly stunned that this guy is available. When I picked Blount for the Pats, I was a little bit reticent, because I thought this guy could help, but he wouldn't make the immediate impact that the Pats need. However, this player is great value in a position of need for a rebuilding team. He was considered a 2nd round/fringe 1st at the beginning of the year, but missed almost all of the season due to a wrist injury.
When on the field, he's been an excellent playmaker. He had over 100 tackles his sophomore year along with 18 deflections and 5 picks. Those are simply astounding numbers. He has a little bit of a thin frame, but I think that this guy could easily blossom into a very good #2 corner who can also defend slot receivers. The St. Louis Rams select Walter Thurmond III, CB, Oregon |
Quote:
That all but guarantees a reach by KC with their next pick. |
Quote:
|
This guy really became a good player and I enjoyed watching him the last few years. A former linebacker converted to safety this guy still has some upside and could be a starter someday. The Browns select Larry Asante from the greatest college football program of all time.
|
The Bucs could use a DE and if he can stay healthy I think this guy turn out to be a pretty solid 4-3 end. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Greg Hardy, DE, Mississippi
|
For the Redskins I'll take Selvish Capers, good project pick, very athletic has the skill set to play in the scheme.
|
The Chiefs REALLY wanted Thurmond to man their nickle spot, but he was swiped just ahead of them.
This puts them in a bit of a pickle - continue drafting for value at a position of depth, or reach a half-round or so to take a guy they really like that can at minimum compete for a starting job, and in my opinion win it. **** it. This guy is a ****ing beast. 6-5, 320 pounds of mean, nasty, powerful lineman that can play either guard position, but we feel he's best suited to play RT for KC and can take the job from Ryan O'Callaghan from day one. His experience is a huge plus, with 26 consecutive starts in the SEC. The Chiefs select: Chris Scott, OT/OG, Tennessee |
Damn fine pick for the Chiefs.
|
Let's get through the next 8 picks by 6:00pm so I can head out of town without having to PM someone a list of players...
|
Exactly......let's ****ing do this.
|
Not sure where this guy fits in a 3-4 but the Browns will play some 4-3 this year too. He wasn't that good last year but the year before looked like a 1st round pick. He's probably a 3rd or 4th round pick so i'm going for value here. The Browns select George Selvie Defensive End Soth Florida.
|
The George Selvie pick is a steal! The Chiefs need to consider this guy in the early 5th.
|
I've got Flopnut's pick if SNR makes his pick in the next couple of hours.
|
Selvie is a 5th-6th rounder.
|
I'm going to receive so much shit in my face for this. But you know what I say? Why the **** not. It's the 5th round. Time for stab in the dark picks like this.
I think the Raiders are a team that could make this pick work. A dink-and-dunk offense is the only kind of system that this guy can possibly operate in and I think they can make it work. The Oakland Raiders select Colt McCoy, QB, Texas |
Quote:
|
I don't think that McCoy works for them, but good value in the fifth round.

Flopnuts PM'd me his pick. He'll be in later to complete a write-up.
The Seattle Seahawks select Mike Williams, WR, Syracuse. |

Combined with his shitty workouts, piss poor interviews, and dropped balls, it's questionable whether or not he'll ever really be a contributor to an NFL franchise. But he came out of high school highly touted, and flashed 1st round quality talent his first couple of years at Syracuse. He got on the field as a true freshman and posted more receptions than any receiver at Syracuse since 1983. He followed that up the next year as one of the best WR's in the Big East despite inconsistent QB play. Better numbers than future NFL 1st day pick Kenny Britt. If our head coach can get this guy motivated, and get him working hard, this could literally be the steal of the draft. He has the potential to be a number 1. He's just got to get his head cleaned up, and get to work. He's better than the 4.6 he posted in the 40. Risk vs. reward in the 5th round makes this pick worth it IMO. |
