Time to get back to work.

@ Baylor Tues Night.

WilliamTheIrish 01-23-2010 05:29 PM

Couldn't ask for more than that. After playing so stupidly (credit OSU) to have a possession to tie/win with 00:13 was about all one could ask.

From what I thought was a certain 4-1 record to 3-2. ouch.

Mr_Tomahawk 01-23-2010 05:29 PM

What's the top 10 going to look like this week?

It'll be hard to play at Baylor after Frank Martin destroys all of his players.

Pullen is the absolute last player I would ever want making an important shot for my team. Or any shot for that matter.

No not at all.

I liked the call. It was a makeable shot. I don't like him short arming it. If you're going to miss it, miss it long off the front iron and give a chance for an offensive board.

Or they could both be big wins. This is one loss and it won't destroy our seasons. Don't think the hawks are going to come into Bramlage and murder K-State or that the Cats are going to roll over for the Bears in Waco.

I'm not calling any K-State wins, but don't act like they suck because of one loss.

teedubya 01-23-2010 09:34 PM

KState sucks after this one loss. :-P

kstater 01-23-2010 10:06 PM

There's no reason to go on after this.

hawkchief 01-23-2010 10:08 PM

Vintage grape hoops - bitter fans throwing shit on the court, technicals from KSUck players and coaches, players back-talking refs, fans booing at every call and oh, of course, the usual choke job of the team once they finally taste a little success. Losing to an average OSU team without their starting point guard, on their home court

The Octagon of Dumb was classless today and Frank and his boys revealed their true colors. Nice!

WilliamTheIrish 01-23-2010 10:08 PM

It's all because the fans didn't storm the court against Texas.

I KNEW we shouldn't have acted "like we've been there before".

Did you catch the part about how you guys won't get another chance till you're in your 50's? Not really about any flow chart. They were making fun of YOU. EMAW, EMAW. Sounds just like a jackass.

Yea, it was a great line by Hubie. I laughed like crazy. Hubie was making fun of the entire storm the reeruns like YOU. The people who seem to think there is a flow chart for stoeming the court.

speaking of KU, the game this weekend should be fantastic.

I'm curious to see if Aldrich can continue his upswing against an athletic front-court like KSU has; he's struggled against quicker guys this year. Same goes for McMorris; he's played well the last few games in a row for the first time I've seen, but needs to stay consistent against better teams.

I'd typically be worried about Clemente and Pullen, but last year it looked like Morningsleeves frustrated Clemente enough to make me confident he can slow him down again. Reed and Taylor have both looked much better on defense the last couple games as well, Xavier really turned up the defensive effort against Mizzou, and Collins is usually solid on D.

With Pullen's injury, I'm less confident. Hopefully it can still be a battle.

his right arm/shoulder is dinged up. He wore a compression sleeve Saturday, and apparently it is worse that they'd originally hoped. Which probably explains his slump.

Definitely explains the slump. I hope.

This game tonight scares the crap out of me. If we drop this, I can see us going on an 0-5 run (vs. oSu, @BU, vs. uk, @NU, @ISU)... Not saying we're going to lose all those games, but they certainly aren't easy games to win...

EMAW.

sedated 01-26-2010 04:48 PM

3-3, facing a match with KU, would be tough on conference title hopes.

But there's no way KSU loses to Nebraska and Iowa State.

Tonights game is HUGE. K-State and Baylor seem to represent the area between KU/Texas at the top of the conference (championship contenders), and Mizzou/Okie State/Texas A&M in the middle of the pack (tournament contenders). Tonight will go a long way in setting that pecking order.

Agreed on the rest of the post (except the no way we lose to NU/ISU, I definitely think we can lose those), but I don't expect K-State to compete for the conference title (at least in the regular season). Maybe the Phillips 66 tournament... But whatever, that's a long time from now. Hopefully we can just win one at a time right now and not worry about Martin's contract, national media attention or anything other than winning the next game on the schedule.

A loss to OSU and/or Baylor is acceptable, they are both good teams. Nebraska and ISU are both total crap. KSU loses to both of them, they wouldnt deserve to be considered a really good team. Each really good team is probably allowed one "what the hell?" loss, but after 2 or 3 of them, your basically a 5 to 10-seed team.
