I would stay away from Ford unless you are buying a truck. Toyota if you can find a decent one.

I love mine. Love it. I have the SL. From my understanding, it rides nicer, and corners better than the S. But the SL is fully loaded and out of your given price range for sure. I rented the S for a few days before I purchased and would have bought it still over the Fusion.

I'm told the Altima has a nice resale value. Also told financing is easier due to this. Less risk to the lender.

Just found that interesting since so many were recommending the Focus earlier in this thread.

They used to be shit. Wife's dad wanted her to drive one in college because the pickup he sent her there with had like 220,000 miles and was absolutely hilarious in snow.

Anyway, the focus he wanted her to drive was terribad. But that was A LOT of years ago. I don't even remember the year that one was and they have underwent several changes since. Unfortunately I know nothing about focuses but maybe they're better now?

And maybe they are solid cars, but the one she drove was EPIC cheap feeling. She ended up with a cheap terrible Malibu that was hilariously underpowered but she was good with it because it wasn't that focus.

Just to be clear, I basically don't have an opinion on focuses. I just stuffed my big ass in the back seat of one for a test drive.

Eh, if you do enough research you can scare yourself out of buying just about anything.

Well, when a Ford master mechanic tells me to stay away from a Ford Focus, I think I should probably listen.

One way flight should be pretty cheap. Might be able to convince lewdog to sell now if he he can push to get the Mustang.

Exactly.

SAUTO 02-28-2015 10:16 AM

I would offer to fly to the mustang and drive it to lew, catch a couple spring training games, then drive the Toyota home.

If it were me, sounds like an awesome trip.

ROFL

It really is a very pretty drive. Driving through Southwest Montana which is absolutely stunning. Then you can off-shoot to Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon on the way down as well. Southern Utah is spectacular in it's own right. Spring Training here is electric.

But I ain't letting any of you assholes near my Mustang! LMAO

Miles 02-28-2015 12:07 PM

Lew why are you waiting until summer to get the Mustang? The miles are going to happen if you drive it back.

Guru should be all over this. Reminds me of how super cheap I sold a car a while back to family since it's easier than listing it and dealing with buyers. A one way flight hardly cuts into getting a deal like this.

Brock 02-28-2015 12:19 PM

I guess I'd keep looking, but if I didn't find a deal as good as that celica, I think I would try to wait on it. There's just too much junk for sale out there.

I can't take any time off to do that trip right now plus flying up and driving back is about the same price as it would be to ship, so I'd rather ship. Not to mention I'd be chancing the snow right now. Roads up north aren't great so waiting until it's nicer so we don't have to risk someone hauling that thing on snowy roads too.
