Is it possible that OBJ ends Burrow's career and we somehow still get a comp pick for him or does the Smith signing negate it?

Orland is tired from moonlighting as a Giant olineman

Keep pushing thru the pain, Joe. We all know how this ends.

Yes. Compensatory picks are already decided.

comp picks are decided based on net players lost/gained in FA

chiefs had a net loss of 2 and orlando was 1 of the losses

According to Over The Cap’s Nick Korte, the Chiefs are projected to receive two fifth-round compensatory picks in the 2024 NFL draft as a result of their free agents gained and lost. Kansas City has lost six qualifying compensatory free agents. Meanwhile, the team has gained four qualifying compensatory free agents.

The problem of course is what you said about injuries for future seasons. They have to pay Burrow $65 million in 2024. If I was the owner, I would rather get Burrow 100% healthy for 2024 instead of worrying about this year. If nothing else, they can get a really good Draft pick if the backup QB struggles in a big way.

Or what? Can't threaten the contract, can't cut him, what's the owner going to do?
