Is that a representation of this thread in a microcosm? The helmet touch sequence reminds me a lot about something I read,

Okay gang, as many of you know I still have friends at the highest level in the Chiefs organization and have this info to share with full confidence: Scott Pioli is the new GM. His announcement will come Thursday or Friday at the latest. Clark and Scott are working out the finer points of his contract tonight (money & control), but the deal is sealed. Also, Clark informed Herm Edwards and his coaching staff that they will be released. All assistants can reapply through Scott.

I only share this information because I'm no longer with the team and it's fun to share that a new day is dawning at Arrowhead. Scott Pioli will quickly move to clean out the front office and hire a new coach.

The only info I have on the new coach is it will not be Kirk Ferentz from the Iowa Hawkeyes. Kirk coaches his son at Iowa and does not want to leave until his son graduates.

Mike Shanahan has contacted Pioli, but I don't know any info beyond that.

I'd tend to disagree. I'd assume it's about money in the end, my gut says Clark will give whatever control he wants, but Clark not being willing to pay a GM $6 million a year seems smart financially. Not being willing to overpay obscenely is not being cheap.

When Donnie Edwards is making almost $6 million, giving Scott Pioli $6 million doesn't seem to be overpaying to me.

Apparently the 32 owners disagree. But hey, who am I to argue that Pioli getting double what Parcells got from Miami is overpaying.

We interrupt this thread for a message from drunk Jeff Goldblum.

Yeah, you have a point, but I really don't understand why GM's salaries are so "low". Speaking of Parcells, just look at his value to Miami.

I'm sure there's incentives and off-the-books stuff. It's the same with coaches, though - I wonder what it's like to try and keep control of guys making 3 or 4 times as much a year as you do.

The highest paid coach makes over $8M, IIRC.

Not many players make that kind of jack.

Is the Tuna really serving in a GM role?

Not many coaches make that much as far as I recall. And a ton of players make that much or more (some a lot more), at least in terms of what they're really paid, as opposed to how their contracts are spread out in cap terms.

I don't know. I've seen some conjecture that he wasn't really all that involved in the turnaround.

This,

Exactly, but good luck getting that through to this crowd.

Well what the **** is this "it appears" shit???

Do I get a ****ing story to go with that, or just some talking head yanking his own crank because no announcement was made by today's non-existent "deadline".

I'm not buying SHIT until someone confirms that Pioli WILL STAY with the Patriots. Period.
