Hard to argue with him. They have nothing to gain by not letting him heal up.

How is AZ defense?

He got advice from Aaron Rodgers. I bet Aaron warned him about that aspect of the calf problem. Gonna be in his head until the calf is healthy. But if they don’t let him rest, will the calf ever get healthy this year? Questionable situation.

I just don't see how you put 219 million guaranteed out there when he's clearly compromised.

Sit the guy. If it tanks your season so what. If you let this guy go out there and get wrecked, you put future seasons at risk as well.

If he was lighting it up and losing, sure if he wants to play let him.

But he's stinking up the joint and risking major injury.

He could have ridden the bench, gotten healthy, and they could be 1-3 with him coming back at full strength.

Maybe they aren't 1-3 if the backup can actually move.

If Joe Burrow gets wrecked, it'll be the dumbest thing since Jim Irsays mishandling of Andrew Luck.

LMAO It's not even like you have to worry about job security out there in Cincinnati.

Eleazar 10-03-2023 01:18 PM

If they mismanage this and he ends up with a serious injury, yikes

I saw one post on the Bengals forum that wondered if the notoriously frugal Cincy owner is demanding that Burrow play since they are shelling out $45 million to Burrow this year. "If you can walk, you're playing. Period."

The problem of course is what you said about injuries for future seasons. They have to pay Burrow $65 million in 2024. If I was the owner, I would rather get Burrow 100% healthy for 2024 instead of worrying about this year. If nothing else, they can get a really good Draft pick if the backup QB struggles in a big way.

OBJ was always known to struggle with the speed rush. That was just straight bull rush. That can't be an encouraging sign for the Bengals
