Russell's Reserve 6 year rye is great. Just a few years ago, Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 year old Rye was still around for like $35 a bottle. Same with Jefferson's Rye, 10 year old rye for around $30 a bottle. Now anything age stated has gone through the roof price-wise. I really enjoyed Pikeville Rye for around $50.

Another that is a little more pricey and can be harder to find is Angels Envy Rye. It’s finished in rum casks which adds a interesting spin and a sweeter finish. |

Noone has mentioned Old Overholt yet :D. You may not know it but you have probably drunk it. Any bar if you asked for a whiskey and soda you were gonna get Old Overcoat as I call it the standard-bearer of bar Rye Whiskey since Bill Hickock was bellying up in Dodge City.

I can get it about every other month. I've still got vendor connections from my old managing days. The problem is I can't let it set on the shelf long enough to last me until I have the chance at the next one.

I really can't say enough about the offerings from High West for anyone not familiar with their lineup. |
