No, I'm pretty sure they don't show scores until the end of the fight. I think it was the 3rd when I thought Shogun was done could have been a 10-8 round for Hendo so I think it was the right decision the way the scored it. I'd love to see it again since Hendo won't get a shot until after Machida and Evans at best. Maybe a shot at the Silva/Sonnen winner might be in the cards for him.

My bad, thanks. It's not that way in boxing right?

They make decisions based on the overall fight and outcome, in a nutshell.

It is, theres only 1 Athletic Commission for each state, not separately for boxing, mma, ect.

It is my understanding that they judge the fight as a whole and not a 10 point must system?

Wow, that would be tough to score especially in a 5 round fight. I'd have to say the decision would still have been the same here.

Fresh Hendo pounding on Shogon > Gassed out Shogun laying on top of gassed out Hendo

The problem with that scoring system is that the latter rounds are probably weighted more, just because they are more fresh on the judges minds.

Yeah, like a street fight. The dude on top at the end wins regardless of what happened before.

They should look into using Fightmetrics, or at least providing them for the judges.

Do they still do a 10 and a 5 minute round like in Pride?

UFC bought Pride and pretty much dissolved the company. I remember Dream playing around with the 3 round system and even fighting in an octagon like cage with a nylon cage. I think that they are still using the 10/5 minute system now though.

Hard to give a defined answer to that, yes and no. DREAM has been messing around with 3x5 rounds but mainly the 10 and 5. Shooto, Pancrase, ZST, Jewel and other do too. ZST is ****ing weird though, they make their own rules, tag team mma champs imanari/tokoro ftw!
