There weren't enough people at the game to tear down the goal post, anyway.
Good effort. |

But yea. So is Harbaugh now off the table? |

Bowen is going to get one of the last two. It'll probably be K State

Two games left, and the question seems to be "Has Bowen done enough to earn the job fulltime?".
I think he has, and there are several intangibles. Being a hometown guy is a pretty big deal. Few coaches are looking at Kansas as a destination, in fact I'd guess most are looking at Kansas as a place to get a 5 year contract, work for 3 and get a nice buyout. Bowen looks at Kansas as being the top of the mountain. He brings more enthusiasm and belief in Kansas football than anybody else on the coaching radar. Today, I'd give him the keys, but the reality is a real search needs to be performed. I do think the Harbaugh situation warrants further investigation, but even if he were to come to Kansas, it would be for 3 or 4 years tops til he went back to the league. He'd build a little, but mostly be a caretaker, and then it would be Bowen's job anyway. |
Personally, I'd go with Bowen regardless. Really, after the last 2 head coaches I don't see the issue in giving the job to a hometown guy with seemingly a lot of passion for KU Football. We could - and have - done a lot worse.
|
Talked with my pal the other day, as you know he said Weis was in process of getting fired and Bowen was going to get that "trial run". He told me yesterday Zenger and the admin already talked to Bowens lawyer and want to hire him. The "chuck neinas search committee" is a ruse to placate 2 big donors who don't want to hire Bowen.

Nice. Don't want to piss off the big donors too much, but he seems like a good fit for KU. |
He deserves the job...not just because of the improved performance on the field, but because of how it came about.
It took stones for him to change QBs and play-calling duties the way he did. Those were big gambles, and it's got to be hard to demote a friend. A lot of interim coaches wouldn't have made those moves. He seems to have a much better handle on the program today than Weis ever did. With Charlie, I always got the impression that he felt he was above the job and that he was doing the Jayhawks a favor by going slumming. If he can keep this up, they can finish ahead of Iowa State and Tech for sure next year and possibly above Oklahoma State and Baylor. It certainly seems like they hit rock bottom under Weis (probably his pile of crap presser) and have begun to rebound. |

Edited to attribute the source. I thought I keyed that in. Sorry PB. |

I don't think he's qualified to get a HC job anywhere else but I would be very hesitant about hiring someone else when in fact he is that lifer that KU has been looking for. |

Bowen has shown me enough to seriously consider him as HC. Hopefully, we see the same thing that we've seen the past 2 weeks these next 2 weeks.

It was like watching AP. The Big 8/Big 12 has had the best RBs to ever play college football and that isn't changing anytime soon. |
Bowen's been involved with this garbage far too long.
Completely unprepared. Already given up. |
