I don't hope he fails. I have to hope he doesn't fail. The odds are stacked against it HEAVILY. What part of that does your tiny brain not understand? We're not talking about maybes. We're talking about ACTUAL NFL DATA on the subject. We're talking about 2 OL in the last 23 ****ing years have EVER come back to be players at at least their same skill level out of 17 that had the injury.

This is not hard shit to understand. The Chiefs took a MASSIVE, EPIC, HUGE, ENORMOUS, INSERT YOUR FAVORITE VERB HERE, gamble on NEED.

Big time meh.

So what's his character issue? Did nobody go to his birthday party? Is he going to grow up to be Foxtail bundle of sticks part 2 and take less money to leave KC because he thought he could outsmart us by hiring a n00b agent?

Thank god we didn't move up for this, at least.

Chiefs probably are the best team to take Simmons, b/c it's an organization with the proven discipline to sit on a rookie for an entire season for long-term benefit (see Mahomes, Patrick).

One hopeful sign is most players who came back felt pressure to play the next season. The Chiefs can afford (we hope) to wait on him, presuming Moore is adequate at LT.

How can one be mad?

I think if the rest of the draft is good I won't mind. 1st rounders have a 50/50 chance of becoming a quality long-term NFL starter. Just have to go along the rest of the draft knowing that Simmon's chances are a crapshoot and who knows if we get something out of it.

They took a risk and get a fifth year option if he’s awesome….and an extra year if he needs more time to get healthy.

I hated watching mahomes run for his life all season. We all bitched about the tackles. Now we have a tackle. It’s not flashy….but if he gives mahomes an extra 1 Mississippi each play….rice and Hollywood and worthy are going to catch rocket bombs all season.

We’ve seen that outside the qb position this is the hardest position for a team that picks last to get right. We gotta take big swings. Jaylon Moore was a great get but does anybody really think he’s the long term answer? Any OT at this stage of the draft has high bust potential.

Can’t wait to hear the press conferences.

Who?

Because the guys I have been able to track down (Jeremy Lin, Andre Roberson, Victor Oladipo) never came back. Literally. At all.

Jack Conklin is the one that does come to mind.

Because one can look at 20 years of historical data on this and get to the realization that there is, at best, a 20 percent chance this guy returns to the same level of athletic performance after this injury.

It's not just a "calculated risk" ... it's a "close your eyes, plug your eyes, hop up and down, saying "not listening not listening not listening"" risk.

Some weird Twitter rumor about how they gave him a playbook with a $100
Bill in it and he didn’t even know it was there
