STOP. BLAMING. THE. DEFENSE.

Sure. They perform well until we play a playoff caliber team, at which point they fold up like cheap lawn chairs. And they are hanging on for dear life against a lot of average to above-average teams as well.

He's an inch taller than Robinson with longer arms and one of the best verticals in the league.

I think you are wrong going off my memory of the throw.

I mean.. if it makes people feel better to blame one person..

I'm just glad that the team isn't in their locker room pointing fingers and crying about a bad game leading to a 5-1 record. Shit happens. Pitt has our number, and we should have another chance to make it right down the road.

One QB had a run game that ran for nearly 200 yds, and a perfect pocket for most throws.

The other QB had a run game that supplied what? 20 yards? and was harassed on most throws.

It's not a real shocker which team's QB came away with a W.

Run game can hurt the QB and the QB can hurt the run game.

The offense was shitty because it didn't score many points.

The defense was equally shitty because it didn't allow many points. Which is the goal of any defense. To stop the opponent from scoring many points.

Got it.

Allowing 17 points = folding like cheap lawn chairs

Time to trade Alex to the Packers.

Yes, when they sacked him on the first series of the game.

And the offense responded by standin' around suckin' on a big 'ol chili dog!

No NFL defense schemes to allow 200 yards on the ground and lose the TOP by almost 2:1.

Everything was crap today... all phases, all players, all coaches

Trying to parse out blame for this one is pointless

The Steelers controlled the game because they could give Bell the ball and he would gain 5-8 yds every run. Don't know why you would praise the D for giving up 200 yds rushing and almost 500 yds total offense.

You know I am not defending the offense or Alex just the D was ****ing horrid as well. Pretty much like what happened in the playoff game.

If a pitcher gives up 12 hits an six innings but escapes w/ only 2 ER, he didn't pitch great. He had amazingly lucky sequencing.

If a basketball team allows their opponent to shoot 30 wide open threes and they only make six, they didn't play great D; they got lucky.

But then making the blame game black and white would be difficult. So let's pretend the defense was fine and that the time of possession wasn't affecting the offense.

Again, offense deserves no defending, but pretending what the Steelers were doing didn't affect the Chiefs offense is silly.

Well, yeah. Obviously. But given our personnel, Bob Sutton knew going in we were going to lose the battle in the running game.

His scheme focuses on winning the war. Which they did. They gave up 10 whole points. TEN.

Until the worst CB in the NFL turned an INT into a game-deciding TD, which decided the game because our QB missed three giant opportunities for TDs.

The D wasn't good. But it was absolutely good enough to win that game, and the playoff game last January.

But the offense can't get out of it's own way.

Theres a fantastic button in between your tab and shift key to stop you from looking like a 4 year old you who is upset because the big girl in your class shoved your face in the toilet again and took your favorite binky.

It was an all around shit effort. The defense gave up a ton of yards on the ground and got burned with shit looks that favored PIT or blew coverages and left receivers wide open, almost all day. Rapey had seconds in the pocket unmolested (pun intended) all day, which, allowed time for his giant receivers to get open. Maybe if we had asked our top 5 in the league pass rusher to push forward instead of trying to cover far quicker receivers that wouldn't have happened.

For the record; I'm not defending Alex today (who, I agree, should have hit the blatantly errant throws you highlighted). Im saying that (sans 6 -8 minutes) the whole team was shit. Was merely pointing out another part of the whole that sucked. If you cant see that then you're so far up your own ass that you an see you your belly button.

Yup. This game should have been blowout and we were very lucky it wasn't.
