So are we getting a #1 seed?

That win last night should have locked it up regardless of what we do tonight.

Not my opinion. If Kentucky and Duke win their tournaments and we lose..... I could see the committee view Kentucky beating us at home and Coach K's last hurrah as the deciding factor to put us on the #2 line.

Yeah, can't say I've paid much attention to other teams this year, but I'm surprised Lunardi has UK on the 2 line at the moment. They don't really have any bad losses and of course convincingly beat Kansas on the road.

Looks like Duke has more questionable losses and then their conference run includes the 4th and 7th best teams in their conference... like you said, I think it would take some Coach K bias to push them to a #1 if both they and KU win.

I can see that also. Not out of the realm of possibility

We have to win today if we want a shot at the 1 line.

Just take care of business (basically) at home and you don't have to worry about anything.

smithandrew051 03-12-2022 09:51 AM

Win today locks a 1. No question. Baylor would have practically no strong claim to a 1 over us.

I’d like to avoid having Duke as our 2 seed in the tourney if it plays out. Can you imagine the calls K would get on his farewell tour with a Final Four on the line?

I've been down for 4 days with the flu. I've watched a lot of basketball, and I have to say, the Big 12 has offered the best basketball. Other than Iowa State and West Virginia.

I bitch about the rugby ball as much or more than anyone else, but in terms of offensive and defensive execution even the rugby ball is better. I watched a shitload of crap-sloppy offense, and horrible out of position defense. The TCU/KU game was probably the worst defensive rotation of the tournament contenders, and virtually every other tournament had major defensive errors at least that commonly.

And I have to say I'm really impressed with OU defensively. I've watched too many garbage OU teams stand around on D, but this team gave up virtually no easy shots. They're pretty down on talent, but they were really technically sound. And they're the 7th seed.

There is some shit basketball being played. Maybe it's familiarity, maybe it's too many games, but woof in terms of offensive and defensive execution, Big 12 is best, albeit a limited sample over a few days.

Sidenote: Woof Iowa State was bad.

agreed. Even Coach K bias and Kentucky winning, if we win, no way they can deny us the #1 seed.

ROYC75 03-12-2022 11:38 AM

That UK game was just one of those games, we sucked, they played great!

Here in Ky you should here how terrible KU is! Everyone here wants us again, have no fear of being in our bracket
I'm like, be careful what you ask for! Somewhere along the course of the season you play a few games that are stinkers, that was one of them. How bad a team loses by has some fans forgetting about reality.

But to me, it does not matter, a 1 or
2 is fine by me. It's the Big Dance, really doesn't matter anymore, you just beat the team in front of you to move on!

Yeah, looking at the projected bracket earlier, no on really sticks out... I know there will be surprise teams and there will be bad match ups that aren't in the top 20, but there's been plenty of chaos, so as far as top 4 seeds in any bracket....... meh.

UK is probably the one, but as Roy said, it was one of those 'everything goes wrong' kind of games while UK also had everything go right and I would guess played at their ceiling for that game.

I actually know a UK fan that doesn’t want any part of Kansas.

He said basically that he knows they had their best day against our worst. Neither is likely to happen again. He’s happy to just take the dominant win and not play again.

He’s a smart fan. Even mentioned how the two Arizona games went for KU in 2003.

He doesn’t think that we would absolutely win a rematch, but acknowledged that UK could absolutely look past us. No chance KU looks past UK.

I thought it was a fair take.

Does not compute.

The UK commentators were talking about the possibility of a UK-KU bracket and was all over himself. Basically claiming nobody in UK nation should fear KU.

You have reasonable fans and the usual blow hards!
